The article said Lampley was staying. So I imagine he keeps his show. But I don't know for how long.

This is going to be a wild close to 2018.

Canelo is the big prize for the entity that gets him.

Canelo should be in a great position when it comes to bargaining. His last 3 fights were box office monsters.
Whomever wants him will have to cough up a lot of money. No way can Facebook afford him
ESPN+ Seems to have deep pockets and Eddie claims he has so.
PPV might not be the only option here.

It's suddenly the Wild West out there.

I can't wait to see how it turns out.

Really sad day. Remember the days of Mike Tyson, Julio Cesar Chavez, Evander Holyfield, Meldrick Taylor, Pernell Whitaker on HBO?

This is a real gut-punch for me.

Watching the stacked turn-of-the-century talent pool at super bantam & feather (MAB, Jones, Hamed, Tapia, Morales, etc) compete on HBO was the direct impetus behind my becoming more than a casual fan of the sport.

Peter Nelson can go **** himself. For some of us boxing was always going to be a determinant factor in remaining loyal HBO subscribers. The MAIN determinant, no less.

Now, as soon as GoT wraps up, I'm done.

 That **** was a complete waste of time. (Okay, maybe a few decent segments)
That money should have been spent on pre-fight hype shows like countdown or something.

I'm kind of with you there. Every scripted show on HBO is on Hulu shortly after.

No need for HBO after G0T wraps.

There's no need for it anymore. Really all it was designed to do was hype upcoming HBO fights.

It wasn't breaking any news or anything.

Lampley probably just has a year or so left on his deal. So they're keeping him around. He's been with them a long time. He also does stuff occasionally for Real Sports.

Well, Oscar needs a broadcaster for his fighters if he's going to keep going. He doesn't have the best roster but he still has Canelo, Linares, Caballero, Munguia, Vargas, Machado, Acosta, Falcao, De La Hoya, Rojas, Lemieux and Alinamongst others.

I think it might work out beneficially for Oscar to split the rest of his roster and Canelo apart, he could get a deal with DAZN working with Hearn to beef that up and then look at Canelo getting g a PPv deal. Not sure if DAZN can afford to add Canelo to their subscription at a tenner a month and turn over the amounts required to draw the same sort of profits as PPV but if they can then that would be a huge deal and put DAZN on the map.

Loeffler could allow strike a deal to get GGG and the Superflys on there. If DAZN are serious then they will form out to get all these guys as it would be a huge boost to getting them really up and going, even if some would strike a loss.

Jacobs and Bivol will almost certainly go to DAZN now anyway.

It is a sort of gut punch.

I was watching an old fight not too long ago and my now grown son said he has such clear memories of laying in bed on Saturday nights when he was little and hearing this theme song coming from the living room.

Man that sucks an end of an era. But we all saw this coming. The only good thing is that I no longer need HBO anymore and can cancel it my cable bill will be $20 cheaper because of it.
