WTF are you talking about? McBride DID retire him and yes it was brutal. He left Ol’ IRON MIKE in a ****ing heap against the ropes. And it was a nice fitting end after the **** Tyson spewed at that reporter during that press conference :) Almost as fitting as the way ‘B-Hop’ cashed out. Lol :D

B-Hop's descent into hell was perfect. Totally deserved.

Mike dominated in mid to late 80's when there really wasn't anyone around....... He was good but not great. Holyfield, Lewis and Bowe take care of him fairly easily in early 90's if he wasn't in jail...... Buster busted the myth in 1990.

The truth is there are two ways to be great: against inferior opposition and against equal opposition.

Tyson is probably the greatest fighter ever at blowing inferior competition: fighters not as physically gifted as him.

But against fighters of his own caliber, able to match him in physical ability, he loses by KO.

That was what Atlas was trying to say.

If you think that Buster was a total BUM you need to leave the thread.

    Oh dear.

You obviously have zero knowledge of his career.

    You're a troll or a simpleton.

    Which one is it?

He was more than just good.

    Look at who he beat.

    Look at who they beat.

Look at how he beat most of them.

Evander, Lennox and Bowe could all have beaten him earlier for sure. But it wouldn't have been a given.

You can talk about the Buster fight, but that specific version of Buster would have given any HW of the 90's a fight, and Mike definitely underestimated him and hardly trained for the fight. Although you can cite his young age, you can't say that he was at his best, fighting to his full capabilities, because he wasn't. If people want to use Buster as a stick to beat him with, then okay. But Lennox lost to MCall and struggled with Mercer. Bowe struggled with Golota. Evander lost to Bowe and Moorer and was in a fight against a 40 odd year old Holmes. All those guys beat each other.

I agree with some of Teddy's points, but he doesn't want to be objective does he.

It would be better for Teddy if he were to admit that Tyson was a great fighter, albeit for an extremely short lived period of time, as this statement makes him sound butthurt (although still not as buttburt as some of the haters in this thread, which is saying something) and it doesn't suit him.

Another thing to consider is Tyson's style: sluggers are always entertaining to watch, but their prime is much shorter.

Tyson was the ultimate slugger because he matured at an extremely young age and brought energy, hunger and dynamism (and perhaps drugs) to the table.

Because of his style he had to win inside 5 rds or less, or his tank would run dry, although very, very few managed to take advantage of the fact.

Oh, I'm a fan boy now?

You must be about 13 years old.

If you're any older, you're going to find life very difficult.

    Cringeworthy?

What's cringeworthy is a guy like you spewing hate about a topic that you have ZERO knowledge on. That is the very definition of cringeworthy.

You are so hopelessly out of your depth here it's painful.

    Run along chief.

You're not getting a second more of a time.

You know nothing of Mike or his era.
