Obviously if you go too far in building up Walcott as a puncher, in order to diminish Marciano, then you are effectively building up Marciano's chin!

This is the problem that Louis detractors have with the first Louis Walcott fight.

They can't both have lost it!

Again, I think it's the way Walcott caught people that left the impression on them. Counter Punches you don't see coming are always going to leave more of an impression on you than prolonged clubbing punches.

For me ratings don't really coincide with H2H. For example Jeffries and Johnson might rate highly in accomplishments but would both probably lose to Henry Akinwande H2H

I also struggle to see how Fitzsimmons and Jeffries would deal with someone like Tua. They may be greater historically but H2H it doesn't look good for them

Not at all. Heaps of people Shavers whupped also called him the hardest puncher they faced including Bugner, Ellis, Norton and Caldwell.

Shavers being a monster puncher is carved in stone, and then some.

Rocky was a good little attrition puncher. No shame in that.

Seamus, I'm still curious if you have an explanation as to why fighters of Ali's height and reach haven't been doing so well the last 22+ years. Are they planning a comeback anytime soon? If so, how long do we have to wait for them to take the division back?

Also, why didn't Alis amazing speed prevent him from you know losing to guys like Frazier and Norton who Joshua would be favored to demolish in a round.

You'd favor Joshua to demolish Frazier in one round? One round? You're even sillier than i thought.

Rousey would arm bar Lewis into submission within a couple minutes....assuming someone has informed her that 1 she can't box for sh1t and 2 stay away from fighters that CAN box.

Walcott lost a few times to Charles and won a few, the KO was sensational and Walcott also had Louis down 3X in 2 fights. JJW started out undertrained and found his talent when challenged against all time greats, like Louis,Charles and Marciano.

In other fights vs Layne, Maxim he was also erratic or possibly gave a few decisions up for $ or was cuffed to get the big fights.

Either way Marciano seperated both Charles and Walcott from their senses and always showed power vs 6"4 Vingo, 34-1-1 Rex Layne,Louis,Walcott,Charles,Matthews and others he showed he could hurt or KO an opponent with either hand. Marciano could wear you down or take you out with one shot but would stay busy coming at you relentlessly punching shoulders arms neck body.

My uncles were LaStarza fans being from NY and Marciano MA but told me the KD and power punches showed Marciano clear winner in the first fight while breaking down LaStarza in fight 2, he did the same to Kocell so Rocky could take you out with one punch or grind you down. That is why he never lost beating his #1 contender 5 out of 6 title fights, also rematching tough fights leaving no doubt.....Short career but DOMINANT
