He is favoring boxing lately. Power isn't Golovkin's main weapon, it's endurance and work output. He is losing that now and speed.
Why? 2017 February: Win against Jacobs 2017 September: Win against Canelo (50 more landed punches) 2018 May: 2nd round knock out against Martirosyan 2018 September: Win against Canelo (30 more landed punches)
Because a few years ago he would've had no problem with Canelo, and he barely made it by Jacobs. He's look bad and slow. Martirosyan was from a lower division, hadn't fought in 2 years, and hadn't won in almost 3. Golovkin genuinely struggled with the guy in round 1.
So he should retire because at the age of 36 “he just barely makes it”? LOL, so if he doesn’t knocks his opponents out like a machine, he is just outlanding and out boxing them, means he should stop boxing, especially when he can make another 30-50 million with it? And I think Jacobs would beat the hell out of Canelo.
He should retire because he's on a massive decline. His career/legacy has nowhere to go but down. Golovkin did dramatically worse against Canelo in their second bout. In a third bout, Golovkin would probably get put down.
First fight he landed 202 punches, second fight he landed 238 and he was much closer to knock him out. HBO had the first fight 8-4 Golovkin, and the second fight too. I think he needs a knockout or at least a victory against Canelo to go down as an ATG. Abel said they are planning to stay around for 2-3 more years.
I dont care one iota how the 3 hired assassins scored the fights In my mind, & the majority of boxing peoples minds, GGG is STILL the Legitimate World Middleweight Champion
You do realize that fights are scored by rounds not punches landed? I land 0 punches in round 1, you land 20. I land 5 in round 2, you land 1. I land 2 in round 3, you land 0. I am winning the fight by 2 rounds although you landed more punches.
