Will Hearn do the common, but acceptable route of going through the rankings to find a soft touch to get a nice easy voluntary defence to get the ball rolling? I'm sure it wouldn't be hard to find a beatable opponent in the WBA rankings.

I don't expect him to put him in against any of the other champions but I hope it's at least a meaningful fight. C.Smith has already shown he's not up to his best against opponents who he's expected to beat quite comfortably.

Winner of Ryder vs Sirotkin would be fine. The winner would have a claim for having earned his shot.

I also wouldn't be totally shocked to see Smithvs Fielding II in a big PPV show next year if Fielding can get another half decent win in the meantime. A Zegue rematch or Feigenbutz, that type of opponent.

Smith vs Fielding II on Sky PPV... @Jurgen might just finally explode ; )

Given it’s generally accepted in boxing circles that young CHRIS retired George via shoulder decapitation I think it’s safe to say Callum isn’t going to be considered the MAN who beat the MAN until he steps up to face the young war machine.

We all know CHRIS would take that fight in a heartbeat, does Callum/JOE fancy that work? I doubt it personally.

    Agree?

He may go the Fielding route for his first defence- they are both signed to Matchroom, from the North West and Rocky holds a belt.

Obviously their last fight was a total blowout but I can see Hearn doing the fight simply to give Smith a relatively straightforward yet marketable opponent.

Does Smith become a PPV fighter now?

If it's a soft touch I could see Yildirim getting the call, but Eubank fought on the undercard and could be pushed as PPV, so that wouldn't surprise me...

Can't see any of the other champions, Smith's team will be wanting a home coming in Echo Arena.

Sadly the answer is probably yes. But there's too many PPV events now with fighters that aren't truly PPV worthy, I think most would agree on that.

With all these "PPV" fights coming up, I wish they would make it more acceptable by at least doubling some of them up to make it more viable. For example, Whyte vs Chisora II and Smith vs Fielding II is clutching at straws to make this two separate PPV events. Why not try and create a model where it's viable to make a big show with 2 main events for fights like this. Throw in some good domestic 50/50 fights and at least try and give the PPV buying fans some value for money.

Ryder, Fielding i hope there is some better fights to be made than that, both are top domestic level fighters and perhaps deserve a chance but id be expecting much better names than that

Did you watch Eubank`s latest fight, he`s still standing on the centre line and missing by not setting up shots with the jab, he looked way off of Smith`s work vs crafty Groves!

Good shout. And you could say Braehmer is owed a shot at Smith. Just hope he doesn't catch a devastating sniffle before the fight again.

I saw him make that tough kid QUIT yes, the only wild card for me in that matchup is the size difference given young CHRIS is a middleweight, groves a light heavy, I have no fcking idea what Callum is, absolutely insane how that guy makes sixty eight

I imagine itll be Ryder/Sirotkin winner early 2019, fights apparently a final eliminator for Smith. Then a big one at Anfield in the summer.

And on what basis do you call Groves, the career super middleweight, who's always made that weight and been very successful at the weight, a light heavyweight?

When will we see him in with another top level supermiddle ?

Really he should want to be challenging the elite level guys at his weight, those fights are worthy of PPV if its a Ramirez, Uzcategui, Benavidez or some real elite level challengers, Ryder, Fielding etc is a joke to be honest if Hearn trys his PPV model on that crap.
