Joshua v Povetkin 1.1 mil ppv buys?

    If you scroll down to Sky Box office events for 17 - 23rd sept they have the rating as 1.1

    Once again the claims of 'lack of hype' and 'casuals turned off AJ' after the Takam and Parker fights hasn't really proven to be true.

    The claims of the public only want to see him fight Wilder also not really shown to be true.

    Hardcore forums like this really do not tell us how a fight will perform on PPV.

    I did check the week before for BT box office to get the canelo v GGG number but they dont have it when emailing they responded saying they dont record the data for BT box office.

    Phenomenal numbers for something which apparently weren’t a big fight. How much extra does a Fury or Wilder fight do? Could it go 2 million?

    'Sly Box Office' is all PPV content on Sky, i.e. Sports events and PPV movies etc. Not enough info to go on really.

    If it is selling that much with such an appalling fight card, you can see why Eddie just does not bother anymore.

    No I don't think it does. It includes wwe ppv's but there wasn't one last week. There was one the week before which says it did 130k buys.

    Some weeks sky box events will have zero as PPV movies are not counted.

    Is this 100% accurate? If so it's unbelievable numbers. But I'd be shocked if it was over 800k. 800k would be excellent numbers.

    Generally they say the BARB ratings have a less than 3% margin of error.

    You are right anything north of 800k would be impressive.

    Very impressive numbers really based on a fighter in Povetkin that had no casual name value. It will be interesting how the wilder vs fury PPV does based on it being U.S timezone and will be interesting in the U.S for a first PPV carrying the Wilder name. The Wilder vs Fury fight will put the status of AJ in world boxing into perspective.

    Does Wilder vs Fury do close to a mill? Given it is on BT PPV which is a new venture and is in the early hours.

    Cant see it. The only fights that have done close mil or over 1 mil at those times were Mayweather v Hatton, Mayweather v Pacquio and Mayweather v Mcgregor.

    Firstly the common denominator is Floyd Mayweather. Secondly these were three huge fights where all fighters involved were PPV stars.

    Fury isnt a PPV star in the UK and Wilder while known I just don't see the fight tapping into the 'casual' psyche to generate 1 mil ppv buys at 4am.

    I think 2 million m8. Hearn said the week b4 AJ v Povetkin the numbers looked like it would be around the Klitscko fight, as at the same point they had outsold the numbers they did during that fight. So the last 3 AJ fights have each done in excess of 1m buys in the UK, impressive figures.

    Ironically if Wilder/Fury was on sky sports box office it would do very good numbers. Fury is a much bigger star now than before the Klitschko fight and Wilder has built a big profile in the UK off the back of Joshua's name.

    Who knows with BT box office. New platforms tend to start off slower. I think it will still do good numbers all the same. 600-800k perhaps. Nothing wrong with that.

    Ridiculous numbers. I think AJ v Whyte would do more than the Povetkin fight. Those two going at it again and Whyte's recent success would see it do a huge number.

    How can anyone ask for 50/50 when AJ pulls in numbers like that?

    His on another level
