Joe Joyce is literally old George Foreman.

He is so slow and cumbersome, his punches look like they wouldn't hurt a fly and it never seems like they are thrown with intent yet he absolutely brutalizes everyone in his way, he has that touch of death.

I said it from the beginning, from his fight with Lewison, they are deceivingly slow but very effective.

Old Foreman had a bit more power but he didn't throw in combinations and at the fast pace.

Joyce is more dangerous and mobile bc he doesn't have to worry about landing an ending shot if hes behind bc his work rate never drops....so you have more coming at you.

Not so sure of Joyces punches don't look like they hurt,? Dont know why this forum thought that in the first place ,even had one guy telling me Joyce isn't a power puncher on another site..lol

He puts a full torque into them and his body, Joshua just showed you can hit very hard when he hurt Povetkin with a short right hand a few inches away.

He is not as slow as old Foreman and he throws more combinations and has a better workrate, he is more comparable to a young Foreman but i don't think he has the same power.

Joyce like Foreman is very good at cutting the ring off but he needs to develop a more consistent heavy jab and he
    needs to improve his defense.

They are very effective against total bums and tomato cans. As soon as he steps up he is getting KTFO.

I know Joyce punches very hard but when you are watching his punches live they don't look like they would knock someone down, obviously they are absolute bombs and he has very heavy hands, to be able to create so much power being so slow.

You need to hit hard if you are just guna stand square on and start clubbing. That stance of his always has me worried when i watch his fights.

Reminds me a bit of Kudryashov. Somehow seemingly slow short punches leave absolute devastation in their wake. I think Joyce has "it." If he is managed correctly next 3-5 fights he could make a name for himself. However it's the HW division so will be eating bombs in the meantime which will test his whiskers.

Joyce is big, strong, and well conditioned, and he keeps pressure on his opponent. Last night was the first time I've seen him fight. His punches look like they hurt, especially the left hook. He torques his body to the left and it looks obvious that he is going to throw it, but it lands and it lands hard. Maybe somebody will be able to roll it and counter him but maybe it's harder to see in the ring than as a spectator?
Joyce is 6-6, 260, and knows how to punch. Anything he lands will hurt. The heavyweight division is loaded despite what the "typical" boxing message board poster says. Joyce, Hrgovic, Agabe, Serenko, Dychko,Yoka, etc., are all huge and physical and all have good amateur experience. Throw in Usyk, Miller, H.Fury, Kownacki, Ortiz, Povetkin, Jennings, etc. and the division is loaded. Regardless of how good Joshua, Wilder, and T.Fury might be, it's going to be difficult/impossible to stay at the top.

Particularly for Wilder who I think will lose to Fury anyway in a close 50/50 fight just bc a k.o shot COULD land..

Sirenko, Dubois ,Gorman, Hrgovic, Usyk,Joyce and the current crew possibly even Morrison and Arias are all going to make it very interesting.

Those saying the division is dead and weak either doesn't actually follow it or had a lobotomy im not sure which one? :babeando:

A lot of board posters don't have a clue what they're watching, if Bert Sugar or Max Kellerman or even Jim Lampley don't tell them what to think they're lost. Many have no clue about the mechanics of boxing, they just see two gloved fists and they have no idea about the role of size, speed, athleticism, or even foot work, technique, and body mechanics. Somebody tells then that Jim Braddock would beat Joe Joyce and they run with it...

In the next few fights I'd like to see him in with someone with some power, to test his chin and maybe force some defensive improvements. He does come off as slow and hittable, not a great combo at heavyweight but the power and workrate seem for real and will be problematic for anyone. Seemed like he fell off balance every time he missed a jab last night.
