He still did not beat the greats fighters at lightweight. That does not give him priviledges. He lost to Hagler, and a year and a half before that was outclassed by Benitez and months after Hagler knocked out by Hearns.. You cannot selectively pick what makes Duran great. He lacks wins over greats regardless of excuses.

All men in higher weigh classes past his prime.
His prime was LW and 1 man beat him by dec. who he later knocked out twice

Hearns beat Hill at 175 undefeated years past his prime. So what. Spinks. And like I said almost to the point of nausea, Duran fought at 154 as early as 1978.. Before Hearns,Benitez or Leonard fought there.. The excuses are a bit too much and rather ridiculous for Duran..

They all had the frame to move up. Duran didn't. Duran got by on pure skill that made up for that small frame

He had the frame. He fought up to 168 and had a great right hand. That is the only way he could Barkley. He didn't outbox Barkley. He outfought him. A little guy would do that? no way. The excuses are too much for him. Too selective.

Small frame stuff is nonsense. And you guys have to know it. Even my picture where Hearns is ready to hit Duran with the final punch, Duran does not look too small.

I never liked excuses. He gets credit for his wins at higher weights even at 168, but somehow he was small at 154. where he fought before the other legends.

Duran is 5 ft 7 in shoes and has a 66 inch reach. He started as a featherweight.

Hearns is 6 ft 2 ish and has a 78 inch reach. Thomas started at welter.

Anyone who cannot see that Tommy is a much bigger guy is blind.

    Cheers.
