I don't know about 2.5, but they're promoting it like they want it to do well.

    It'll do very well.

The US market has always liked heavyweights.

When you repeately have to call for people to buy your PPV at the press conference, chances are your going to be struggling to make up the numbers.

And the last Heavyweight PPV was?

These are two guys headlining their first PPV event. The ceiling here is 400k
400k for a PPV is really good. Especially these days. So anything above that would be exceptional.

He's more notorious than popular. He's more known by casuals for his controversial remarks after the Wlad win and the whole doping/UKAD scandal.

He's never headlined a PPV himself, he's never had a stadium fight, he's a solid draw at best. He can fill the O2 or the MEN but Joshua and Haye are much bigger draws than Fury has ever been. Plus you have to remember he burned a lot of fans after pulling out of the Wlad fight, a lot of boxing fans lost out financially there.

But you're right it will do more than 100K in the UK. I think it will do 400-500K in the UK. It's the US where it could fall short of expectations. I hope not, I hope it does well and we then get to see Joshua/Wilder with PPV on both sides of the Atlantic, boxing could really do with another huge fight that captures the imagination of the casuals.

If Wilder believes this fight does them numbers then in the words of Dillian Whyte.."Wilder is a crackhead!".

It's a massive gamble on Showtime's part. I'm not sure what Showtime's expectations are (probably to break 800k buys assuming they want to gain some leverage in negotiations with AJ/Hearn afterwards), but I'm sure it won't break 1 million.

Considering Wilder's numbers on regular Showtime and the fact that neither guy is a proven commodity on the US market, I'm afraid that the PPV might just tank and do lower than 500k.

Wilder, considering the silly 2.5mil prediction, will surely be disappointed either way.

And now it's becoming obvious that the undercard will be complete garbage.
