Have you watched a different fighter to me? When does Deontay Wilder ever throw body shots? He ALWAYS does the jab, right hand combo. I hardly ever see him throw shots to the body. Also, Fury has a long reach and when he's close and engaging with Deontay, he will have his jab way out so he can't get shots to the body off. In reality you're right, but Deontay hardly ever throws body shots. Things aren't going to change now. It's going to be the same-old, same-old. And that is why Fury picked Wilder. Because he knows him inside out.
Fury will box Wilders ears off early on, but obvious question is can he sustain that boxing over 12 rounds? Furys build up to the fight namely fighting Seferi and Pianeta prior to going for the title after a long lay off is unconventional, and not pressure testing himself for a 12 round fight with a guy like Wilder. Fury is going to need to be in bloody good shape to be alert over those 12 rounds, as it only takes one of Wilders bombs exploding on Furys whiskers to give him a 'bad day at the office'. Wilder and his team know that Fury has the boxing skills to befuddle Wilder, so we must assume they see winning is likely despite facing those skills. Fury has got nothing to lose and all to gain, if he loses then so what, "it was my 3rd fight on comeback trail and i was still willing to fight the best blah blah". The conspiracy theorist in me sees it as both Wilder and Fury will be upping their profiles in the course of one fight, Wilder getting known this side of the big pond and Fury not having to fight against contenders to get the big fight. Wilder to win in my opinion, just gotta put up with these 2 giants for the next 2 months jive and trash talking, agh well thats boxing promotion for ya.
I know. But Everyone knows Wilder has only one way of winning the fight with that trademark 1-2 right hand and windmill. Fury will be ready and prepared for it. Wilder and his team have to be smart and intelligent enough to know that they cannot be one dimensional and predictable. I am sure they know how awkward, tough and mobile fury is and therefore they will have to adopt an intelligent strategy for this fight. And I believe breaking fury's body will be Wilder's best bet. If he just relies on being inactive in the first 6-7 rounds hoping he will find room for his Haymaker, that will be a huge mistake. Plus Fury will be getting his own work off on wilder and countering him so that might take a toll on Wilder as well.
I wouldn't bet on this fight, Wilder is dangerous all the way. He's quick, strong, has great endurance, and he has power. Fury is the first giant who has been raised to box. He is not a 6-9 guy who was urged to box because of his size. He is a kid from a boxing family who has boxed his entire life and just grew to be tall. In the ring he is as relaxed as any fighter I've seen. He is like the 6-9 version of FMJ, the Gary Russells, Chris Byrd, Lomachenko...all of the boxers who started as kids...fighters like that, it's like they have radar, they KNOW when/where a punch is coming from, and they are at home in a boxing ring. That's why I don't think that Fury's relative inactivity will affect him, boxing is natural to him. I'd probably favor Fury because I've been impressed by his movement, and skills in the ring, things that I've never seen before with a huge fighter. But Wilder has enough speed, power, and endurance to turn things around anytime. Plus, Wilder doesn't just stand around and get hit, he's unconventional but effective. It might come down to whether Fury can get Wilder's respect and maybe hurt him early? If he gets Wilder's respect and makes him box, he should win, if he gets into a "fight" with Wilder, that probably favors Wilder.
I dont put much on press conferences but the more I see these guys together the more confident im with Fury . Wilder is a secret mental midget even if hes tries to fool everyone ,he cant help himself being over emotional and feels the need to attack anyone that goes against him and that's why he has got in trouble out of the ring as well. One thing fury thrives on is mistakes, its a factor I haven't even included and Wilder is an emotional fighter when being patient goes out the window .Wilder WILL feel the pressure knowing its not a Barclays scorecard if it goes 12 rounds. Just look at todays press conference ( It was cool to see my old Apt.building in the background) the man cant help but lose composure at some point if things don't go his way or if he abandons thought like when he finishes guys swinging aimlessly. Furys got this I believe. At least in fight one.
I'm going to make a prediction.. every time I put this fight in my mind.. I see the following: Deontay is going to be embarrassed for awhile, Tyson's going to out box him, smother his offence. The Tyson will do what Tyson always does, he will showboat, perhaps stick his chin out or make a gesture of some kind and he will get nailed by a Deontay right hand. Wilder to win via KO. If Tyson does manage to resist his own nature then he has a good chance. But over-all I am predicting a Wilder KO.
Wilder inside 8. I think it will be smack dab in the middle of how Washington and Szpilka fights looked.
I find it to be an easier fight to call, imo. I think Wilder beats any version of Tyson. My only real question is will he knock him out early or will it go late.
