What have I said hateful? I don't like excuses? You guys are not fair to the sport when you excuse Duran. He was not this small little guy who moved up. He could not handle 135 for a long time and moved up and fought at 154 since 1978, and when he lost he is given excuses. That is not biased. I like facts and wins and losses and keeping it simple. If Canelo beat GGG in the rematch, all the excuses in the world do not excuse him. It does not have to do with Duran, it has to do with no excuses and fairness.

I think it is very relevant. As a matter of fact, saying he was out of shape is not relevant. The variable was Ray. Even in the first fight, the commentary with Ferdie I think it was said, Ray is flatfooted. Right at the getgo of the fight they said, Ray is going to fight flatfooted. That shows they knew he was the variable and he made that choice.

Not sure who started it for this fight, but it was well known what Duran did in between fights. So it wasn't like SRL was guessing Duran could be, he knew he likely was. Was he specifically set up a date because of it is anybody's guess, he says so.

He had no choice. Duran didnt let him fight any other way. He was on him like glue for three min a round because he was in peak condition UNLIKE in the second fight where he was tentative and soft and followed Ray around instead of cutting off the ring. Completely different fighter the second time around.
Listen Durans management went after the money. Duran was partying from NY to Panama for literally a few months. The difference in the second fight wasnt this elaborate game plane that Dundee was selling it was Duran not being in FIGHTING CONDITION like the first fight plain and simple so he go out boxed on the outside by the younger bigger faster man. Theres condition then theres fighting condition. Duran fit the first because they didnt give him time to get into the second

Ray started the fight flat footed. Even the commentator mentioned it. He is going to fight him flat footed. Then in the second fight Ray was moving. No excuses matter. Ray was the variable and Ray won easily two times after. Excuses are just that. If you buy one excuse then you have to buy all the fighters excuses.

It's a bit like the tale of the Ali/Cooper bout, myth soon becomes a legend.

How is that funny. It is the truth.

15:37 the round starts in round one in the first fight. What does the commentator say 9 seconds into the fight? If you accept one excuse you have to accept all.

You didnt show me anything except to reaffirm how much more powerful Duran looked in the first fight like I stated. Leonard wanted to come out and make a statement but it backfired on him. Like I said Duran then imposed himself on Leonard like glue and Leonard could not move and give his angles like he wanted to. His plan backfired. When he wanted to dance Duran wouldn't let him.
I couldn't care less what these announcers say lol since when do they even matter haha

The announcers were there and they noticed the obvious. As a matter of fact these guys who probably are not very knowledgeable saw what was happening. Ray wanted to fight Duran and it did backfire on him, but in the rematch he boxed and won easily as he did in the 3rd fight. Ray was the variable, which has been my point all along, which nullifies all the excuses for Duran. Had Ray decided to box in the first fight he would have won easily enough, with some tense moments, but I think it is clear he would beat Duran everytime out from the second fight on. Benitez beating Duran easily proves some of this also. Only a little over a year after Ray beat Duran in the rematch.. Would Duran quit in the first fight had Ray fought the boxing fight and countering he did in the rematch? I do not know. Probably not, but I do think Ray wins relatively easily and maybe even stops him by TKO.

These videos prove Ray was the variable and the excuses people use for Duran are just ways to excuse a legitimate loss. And the excuses continued against Benitez and Hearns at 154.

It is clear Ray was thinking of beating Duran in a brawl in the first fight and stopping him. The rematch he is going to win being Sugar Ray and move and counterpunch and frustrate. Very different approach. The variable was Ray and Duran know this and Ray knows it. Duran would never admit it.
