"We both know we are world class fighters and have great respect for the others skills. we just talk so much trash because we both are well Aware most casual fans are completely idiotic and become more interested in the fight if we pretend to dislike eachother".

thats what fury and wilder would say if they were honest.

Agreed--but I can't be the only person thinking I was reading a quote. Inverted commas work better for 'what they really mean' lines. Nevertheless, yes I concur; and moreover, the press conferences and pre-fight badinage was something people were looking forward too, so the dismissal of the silly press conference trash talk and behaviour baffles me. Yes we know it doesn't win fights.....but many thought it would be part of the fun regardless. It is. They'll still train and fight to win nonetheless.

The term 'casual fan' has more than one meaning nowadays...with the advent of social media. When I was a kid, you would have, say , Frank Bruno and Mike Tyson fans...who knew little else about the sport. That was fine...but nowadays they can come online because they are fans of 1 or 2 big names. So it has become an insult, as they've entered an arena with fans of the sport as an entirety. Not just the big names. I recall literally telling, not typing, 'casual fans' that I thought the then reigning Cruiserweight champion Holyfield would one day beat...or at least seriously test.. the reigning HW king Tyson. They didn't know what the hell I was on about or what the CW division was. What's my point? Maybe the word casual is often correct and should be used pejoratively....but not always.

Youre an idiot. Just because two guys respect and like each other doesnt mean they cant talk trash and get in each others faces.

Even hardcore fans are suggesting that Fury got in his head at the press conference or vice versa. It's bollocks.

These guys are friendly, and even talk on the phone. There's no mental battle on that stage. It's just to hype the fight.

I am absolutely. 100% that there is an element of showmanship in this, but given that these guys are both mentally unbalanced, and both have huge egos conversely tempered by deep insecurities, I am equally sure that most of the heat that you have seen is real.

An act can quickly become the truth.

We know how modern fights are promoted! This is no different. Staged or not, the pressers were entertaining and Fury clearly got under Wilder's skin at times, with Wilder visibly annoyed and lost for a good comeback.

What you see is what you get. Two boxers trash talking, having a go at one another, promoting their fight and doing a good job of it. Instead of trying to pick holes in it, why not just sit back and enjoy the show? Fury has been hilarious, Wilder is trying his best. If it's all rehearsed so what. I'm buying this fight because it's a great boxing match. I'm also going to continue enjoying them slag each other in the build up.

Of course this is showmanship.. that said.. be realistic. They have to step in the ring with each other and try and hurt each other, friendship is far from how they will view each other now. Nobody is friends going into the ring, you have to want to hurt the guy.

probably right. Tyson Fury is great at it. I want him to win although if he does win he usually takes a break. He doesn't seem like a champion who wants to fight often and all comers. He likes more the press conferences and the talking than the fights, but he realizes the fights bring him the money and the opportunity to talk and do all this.

Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder are both respectful men who recognise another true warrior when they meet one.

That has nothing to do with The Gypsy King and the Bronze Bomber, and they will be the ones going to war on December One.

Why do people have such a problem with the casual boxing fan ? Without them it's hard to make the big fights and boxing dies a slow death like it has been in America and did in Britain pre Hearn.
