I cringe at mumble rappers, no substance no story no ingenuity. Hip hop “the poetry and pain” left music a long time ago. There are remnants of the old regime still active in the game and others that represent the golden age well but I doubt it will ever reach its prime again.

Totally not me man. But listening to something just because it's hip makes you a poser. I don't like a lot of modern music but there's definitely some good stuff of course.

 

I listen to new **** because I get tired of listening to old **** over and over again. It's called moving on. I think people who say try and act like they're better than everyone because they're above "mumble rap" and new music are the real posers tbh.

I hate hipsters. The underground music scene is lacking for the most part as well. There's a complete over-saturation and recycling of sounds and styles. Part of it just due to a natural plateau because of bandcamp, sound cloud make it easier for people to peddle their crap and the music software is a lot easier to use as well. Most modern popular music I just find completely brain dead and lacking of any sort of substance. Nothing to do with moving on because a natural progression hasn't taken place, but a regression.

 

Music has pretty much been always like that when it comes to pop music. What did you think of MGK's diss against eminem.

Older pop music was a lot more palatable and talented across all genres. To say otherwise is complete absurdity. The 90s is where most popular music started to go down hill though. Everything became completely synthetic(not in a good way) and very little as far as actual songwriting went.

Personally don't care about stuff like that. It's just done as publicity stunts. I'm probably dating myself, but Eminem's feud with ICP who I ****ing loathe was pretty funny. He really owned those "clowns"

 

Bro you didn't grow up to pre 90's music. You're just listening to the best of the 80's, that's why you think the quality is better. If you only listen to the best songs from the 2010's you'd probably have a different opinion.

 

70s, 80s, 90s and early 2000s are my favorite periods for modern music(some underground some mainstream). I'm not biased here. There's a clear decline in substance for popular music in the last 20-25 years. It's largely brain dead nonsense man.

 

You probably like rock more. That's why you prefer music during those eras since rock was popular then. Rock is pretty much dead in pop music now.

 

That's true. But theres serious decline in Rap, R&B, General pop as well etc. It's depressing man.
