I'll show you if you write me your facebook page. I'm in better shape than Whyte, in much better actually. Like Wlad Klitschko, only 5'11'' and 190-195 lbs. I'm competitive powerlifter though so it shouldn't be strange. Look, Whyte is 2'' shorter than AJ and weighs 12 lbs heavier, with far less muscle mass. AJ is in great shape, Whyte isn't. If Whyte had AJ's % of bodyfat, he'd be 230 lbs at best. And I don't mean fat for ordinary people, fat compared to AJ, Wlad, Holyfield etc. etc. other athletes with ripped physique.
Whyte would be a lot better at ripped 225-230 pounds, fat is useless in boxing. That's the reason i laugh when someone tells me some guy would beat another guy because he weighs 30 pounds more.
Yes lifting lighter weights to build muscle stamina is good. Lifting very heavyweight to build extra bulk that takes away the snap and sucks too much oxygen is not good. Depends on a fighter build and game. If speed is your thing, don't lift that much.
Okay if you had said as compared with AJ fine, but in general fitness Dillian ain't fat, he aint ripped either. AJ is next level ripped, very hard to achieve that level unless genetically gifted or trains a hell of a lot.
I have no doubt that Dillian is pulling and pushing some serious weight in the gym. He has a very muscular frame, with some padding. Not for me to judge of course but I think he consumes too many calories out of camps lending to his softer looking physique. No question about his heart, but is he 100% dedicated to his craft? When performing at the elite level this can make the difference, particularly as he doesn't excel in any particular area - just quite good at them all.
I think Whyte could've tried to make 230, he would have had better stamina if he shed few inches off his waist. Same with Chisora, who looks similar to Whyte, just shorter.
Not only better stamina, his handspeed would also increase quite a bit and his power would be the same, he wouldn't have any negative effects from losing 20 pounds provided he keeps his muscle mass.
Genetically, Whyte ain't ever going to be ripped unless he puts a lot of focus on it which I doubt he ever will. He's body is just going to be toned and somewhat lean if he gets into career shape. I don't know if he enjoys coming in at 255-260, whether he likes being a big guy with weight behind his shots... but I don't see this guy making 230 anytime soon. 240 would be the lowest I ever see Dillian come in, but 245 would be ok. He still managed 12 rounds with Parker at 258. Also, bone weight makes a difference, my friends are big boned, so they could look very slim and trim and still be 45 pounds heavier than they look.
Interestingly, Whyte came at 252 in pro debut and then shed off 22 lbs in 4 months. Stayed with that weight for 3 more fights. Would like to watch these fights.
