Tua at his best would be a threat to Joshua. I think Joshua though would use his jab which is developing good stiff jab and that may be able to keep Tua at bay especially with the powerful right hand he can bring behind it. But Tua at his best was able to keep coming at Ibeabuchi who is actually in some ways similar to Joshua. I actually thought Tua could've got the edge in the fight with Ibeabuchi and against Joshua it would be interesting to see what kinda fight Joshua fights. I don't see him having a workrate like Ibeabuchi but I think he'd try to use his jab and boxing skills more which we've seen a lot more in his recent fight. I think Tua would have his moments I'm sure as Joshua isn't a boxer like Lewis who could use his range along with his power. Tua not even at his best stage in his career was able to land on a couple times in the early rounds on Lewis. Joshua is more there to be hit then Lewis and this would make this match up interesting. Joshua seems to have a good chin and heart, I think he'd be able to pull this one out but it wouldn't be easy as Tua at his best was a real contender and a threat to anyone who didn't have either the jab or legs to keep him off. I think Joshua would have to steal some rounds with his jab and boxing and also fight out some rounds with Tua. Tua in the 90's at his peak was a big threat to any fighter especially any who didn't rely on there jab and boxing skills which Joshua doesn't but lately has been developing a lot more into that kind of fighter. I'd be much more confident in Wilder beating a prime Tua as he uses his range a lot more and definitely has the power that could make Tua cautious.

Tua's prime years were from 92-98. After the Rahman win he started coasting and stopped coming to the ring in shape. At 225 lbs Tua was a dangerous man, but at 235 lbs although he could still punch was slow as molasses and very beatable. After Tua came in twice over 235 lbs I knew he'd never be a champion.

That said I'd still pick Joshua even as inexperienced as he is, since even Tua at his best had a bad habit of taking rounds off and not using combinations enough, which would be the key in beating Joshua, so Joshua most likely beats him on points.

Just so you know, if this fight did happen, I've already said I would back Anthony Joshua. So you're saying I'm wrong?

Don't forget that I was only trying to point out Tuas prime and what many believe was Tuas prime days. I never said Tua would beat AJ. Take your time when reading my posts.

What i'm saying is that 'Prime Tua' is a myth.

A 28 year old Tua that fought Lewis should be 'Prime', there were no excuses for him not to be.

Tua man is 4 inches shorter than Povetkin and much smaller reach... he wouldn't land as effectively as Pov.

Tua ain't anywhere near as mobile either or slick as Pov.

Joshua would comfortably land from range on a stationary Tua's until Tua get's TKOd in early rounds.

You could be right but I disagree and I followed all of Tuas fight live. Well most of them live :) I was a huge fan.

I just think Tua moved and looked a lot better against Ibeabuchi than Id ever seen him ever. Thats when I think he was at his best.

No I believe and back my countrymen 100%. We dont have many boxers that make it that far so us kiwis find ourselves supporting just the one fighter. I'd be supporting Tua against AJ but Id put my money on AJ to win. AJ just looks unbeatable at the moment.
