I'd favor Lewis I could even see him knocking out Wilder in the early rounds. I do not count Wilder out though with his power and Lewis not being the hardest guy to hit.
If Lewis is in the zone then I don’t think it’s even a close fight. Wilder’s fundamentals are simply not good enough, and he hasn’t remotely fought a fighter on the level of Lewis. Lewis knocks him out and it could be early. However if Lewis showed up with the attitude of the Rahman fight then he could walk into one of those haymaker right hands and be taken out.
Ortiz is a "good" win. Lewis has about a dozen of those. Has Wilder got a chance? Yeah. I guess. But if I had to bet I would bet on Lewis every time.
ortiz would have been prime lewis worst win, and lewis would never have defended against someone so increpid an opponent as ortiz.
Lennox is just too strong. I think posted on this subject before if there was another thread. Lennox would win by knockout early.
I find myself in the unusual position of disagreeing with you here. Who is Ortiz' best ko win? A 44 years old Tony Thompson? He couldn't get rid of a faded Malik Scott,he's a good puncher but not top flight,imo.
Ortiz power comes from having guys run into his shots. He doesn't exactly have the wins over guys with known chins either. Claiming he hits like a ton of bricks isn't based on anything solid . Whytes left hook and body shots are far more power shots then anything Ortiz has demonstrated. Can you really say Ortiz hits harder then Povetkin with 100% confidence? Nope. Ortiz is over Parker but about that range per punch. Ortiz IS a top level puncher when guys walk onto his shots but that is assistance of the other guy making it easier for Ortiz. Knocking out guys like Dan Martz does not show us he is a top tier power puncher. The top punchers if I actually went by EVERYONE without putting anytime on it. 1.Joshua ( has the most impressive and quality opponents that were stopped) 2.Wilder ( though that's questionable) 3. Sirenko ( I think hes actually going to be known as the hardest hitter) 4. Dubois 5. Morrison 6. Joyce 7. Agjaba 8. Breazeale 9. Povetkin 10. Whyte Most of these guys if not the exact order hit harder then Ortiz and one could see produce harder shots either through how they punch or overall resumes. Theres a multitude of guys that one could argue on Ortiz power level I didn't include. If I went on EFFECTIVE puncher, he IS a top 5 however.
It's all opinion isn't it for example I don't think Joyce is a special puncher, I'd rank Ugonoh significantly above him. Sirenko I haven't seen ,nor Agjaba.Povetkin above Whyte? Maybe.
I agree, lennox wins 70-80% of the time. Only thing id be nervous about is the fact he was taken out by right hand leads from 6'2 b level fighters. Wilder hits way harser than them and is taller than lewis. If i was a betting man i wouldnt ignore these factors no matrer how much better lewis is than wilder. Haha, hell no. Lewis refused to face the two southpaws in his own era, therefore i cant say hed effortlessly beat ortiz and he certainly wouldnt be his "worst" opponent...unless you think shannon briggs, tommy morrison, and golota were better than ortiz...? People "run into" ortiz shots because hes a COUNTER PUNCHER. everyone knows he hits hard, no one is just walking towards him looking to trade or get hit on purpose. Hard to have wins over elite guys with good chins when the best guys make excuses not to fighf u. Not really, whyte might hit slightly harder but both have devastating power and similar effects on the opponent. Whytes ko of browne and ortis over cojanu look similar. You cant 100% confidently claim povetkin hits MUCH harder either. There is absolutely nothing to suggest that. And parker? You must be joking. As for your top ten punchers list, other than joshua and wilder its ridiculous. Dubois has EIGHT fights over british level guys. sirenko has NINE with opponents who have 4-1-0, 0-1-0 records. Dont be a hypocrite and try to downplay ortiz resume then try to prop up these rookies punching power when their best opponents have less than 10 wins...some have less than 10 fights!
All due respect mcvey, but i dont think youre being honest about the scott fight or havent seen it in a while. Dropping a guy three times and winning clearly shouldnt be a knock on a guys punching power. Scott is a skilled veteran with over 40 fights and has only been koed once.
they were all prime and ALL had better wins than Ortiz best effort. They were all better than a 40 year old man. Absolutely, utterly pathetic that this is Wilders best win, and you should be ashamed of defending a title fight with a 40 year old with no title pedigree.
Joyce is very heavy handed. I don't see where Ugonoh could be ranked significantly above him. Ugonoh probably hits harder then whyte or Povetkin...MAYBE .
