I want to give him the benefit of the doubt and throw the coward excuse out of the equation because he accepted his 5 other defeats without any grudges.

It surely couldn't have been just losing alone, he didn't have any problems losing to Holyfield in the first fight.

Was it frustration at the fact that he was being found wanting when the opponent was fighting more effectively on the inside, in the pocket?

Was it frustration that he was found short in the rematch when he had actually trained harder and come in better shape?

Was it just a moment of madness?

My article on those two fights pretty much cover my thoughts on it, https://imgur.com/gallery/cTzam for the first fight, https://imgur.com/gallery/GDoGXWo for the bite fight.

Frustration at losing, pure and simple. He also tried to break Frans Botha's arm, so it is not like this was an isolated thing.

The idea that he accepted his other loses doesn't work because everyone is a little different from day to day.

I don't know if it was because he had fear of losing. That was beyond that. I think Evander and the headbutting, and then knowing he was rocked and going to lose again made Mike do that. He almost went into another mode of fighting at that point as though, if I cannot beat him normally boxing I will do it in this crazy mode. Good thing they stopped it.

I honestly believe it was the headbutts, Mills Lane not noticing them, fear of losing and frustration that his best wasn't nearly as good as it once was.

How I see it to. Frustrated at his power not being just enough to win him it .Angry at himself perhaps for not being the fighter he was pre jail .A whole mixture of stuff that made him snap .

He took the easy way out as opposed to another drawn out beating that he could do nothing about. Nothing more, nothing less. Maybe he thought he could sell it and not lose face.

A sudden craving for chicken wings in hot sauce, and knowing that many rounds stood between him and food?

Don't argue with the munchies. :nonono

I think Tyson simply decided that he did not want to face another painful beating so decided to do what he thought would get him the quickest DQ possible - hence he bit Holyfoeld's ear.

He knew he was losing the fight and couldn't turn it around using tactics within the rules so he bit Holyfield in the hope that Evander would lose his cool and go to war. Or maybe he was just looking for a way out and got DQ'ed on purpose.

Frustration and anger he was frustrated because he knew he was losing the fight. He was also angry because he felt Holyfield was getting away with headbutts. He really lost his passion after the Holyfield fights.
