What makes him such a standout fighter of this generation ?? Is it genetics(his bro was excellent too) training ???Up bringing?? Or a combination of all three. Do we have to look back at his amateur career for the answer, as in well schooled, honed his style, good education so to speak..I'd like to hear peoples opinions on what makes Gennady so great
His power comes from his wrestling background, just like Beterbiev, its a good combination of two disciplines making the boxer.
I believe it has a lot to do with his will to win. When he says he loves the sport of boxing, he really means it.
A mixture of good genetics, discipline, determination and a natural hunger to survive and succeed. He’s not the fastest or the most agile but he makes up for it with he’s timing. I wish there was a bigger talent pool within 160 when he was on rise for us to make him a intergenerational great but I’m confident he’ll end up as a HOFmer when all’s said and done.
Very skilled puncher, great technically, great balance, great Jab, genetically very powerfull guy, great chin It's sad that the he apperead so late at the big stage WBA champ Sturm ducked him in 2009
Nah, ok, I'll bite. He's a fundamentally very complete fighter that can do a bit of everything. He is technically superlative and builds off a traditional boxing base - flawless footwork and and excellent jab. He builds everything off his jab and footwork, which he uses to dictate the flow of the fight. Because he is so well schooled, it seems to me that everything comes naturally to him. Hes a calculating fighter and often tries stuff to see how the other guy reacts and sets up his KO punches beautifully. Add to this that he's never out of shape and physically as strong as a bull. Bad news all the way.
