Has Golovkin looked beatable in his last few fights because of age, or because he's finally fighting guys who aren't total bums?
Uh, loaded question much? His competition (Jacobs,Canelo) is better, but he's also older. Not to say the other guys he fought were bums though.
In his last four fights he has lost a total of 12 rounds on everyone's cards outside of Vegas. He is doing ok, legacy not tarnished by Vegas crooks.
GG looked bad or old against Jacbos and Canelo, then looked like a prime beast against Vanes than looked old again against Canelo, You do the math it's not that hard....
No one who crosses the 35 year old barrier looks better than he was. GGG looked like his age against Canelo
I thought he has looked better against better opposition. Was able to beat Canelo pressuring him to the ropes or standing on the outside in the centre of the ring countering him. He fought a bigger athletic puncher in Jacobs, dropped him and saw out a hard fought contest. If anything, he's shown he was better in those fights than any previous, that's said fights always end up closer at top level, KOs stand to diminish - it happens with all boxers.
Stepping up the level of comp. Anyone can look like the second coming koing cans like Wade and Rosado. But to dominate or KO an elite fighter like Canelo now that's a different story and you saw that when GGG fought him. GGG fighting cans for the majority of his career did him no favors when it was time to step up in class he failed.
Who could he have fought to put that right ?? Bearing in mind he is a middleweight, no jumping up in weight, I want your opinion on who at 160 could he have fought !
From the dawn of the century guys have moved through weight classes to get better fights. Of all the talk GGG gave about being willing to fight everybody from 154 -168 , he still has yet to leave 160. He waited and waited until guys moved up to him , cos he was never wanted and will never want to move up and fight guys in a higher division.
