Why doesn't Canelo fight someone like Uzcategui or Ramirez or Callum Smith instead? Canelo that he's going up to 168 to fight for a "belt" is disingenuous
WTH? When I saw on the scene Canelo vs Fielding at MSG Dec 15 I was wondering if there was another fighter named Canelo. It reminds me of when GGG was in talk with Eubank Jr and out of the blue GGG vs Brook got announced with promotional posters and all, I thought somebody somewhere goofed but no... I was totally expecting them to announce Canelo vs Lemieux at MSG who at least made much more sense for MSG being Canadian and living near the border. I guess Canelo's team decided what Lemieux lacked in skill greatly made up in power and didn't want to risk it. Sucks for Lemieux who's been waiting for his shot against Canelo ever since he joined Gb.
Definitely p4p no. 1 if he does lol This has cherry pick gone wrong written all over it.. He took a bit of a beating in those last few rounds with triple G
Great reply. Finally someone who can separate being a fanboy for 5 minutes to appreciate good business.
Similar to Liam Smith, facing a lower end top 10 ranked guy and scooping up a little belt along the way while also becoming "a three division titlist." Makes sense. The greatest fighters of all time never faced top 5 guys back to back to back to back to back. It is what it is. Kind of a soft opponent I suppose, but debuting up at Super Middleweight for Canelo plus being mere months after his last fight, a great and tough one, adds some bit of legitimacy.
This fight allows Alvarez to win a Super Middleweight title against an easy Champion, and delays his voluntary title defense, which of course delays his mandatory title defense against Charlo.
Wow that is crazy, i have no words. Its a shame that even with one of the best resumes in boxing, i now question canelos motives. Whats his reasons for this? Is it to dodge the pottential charlo fight if ggg wins? Is it to dodge the trilogy? Is it because super mid is weaker? Iam probably asking the same questions that have already been asked on here, if i have sorry havent read through posts.... Seriously though what is this about?
I cant see lemieux being any sort of worry for canelo, but theres definatly a motive for this fight...hmmm...iam in shock...i think its more likely hes dodging a possible/probable future fight with charlo, i dont think he can dodge him for long tho he will end up mandatory before long at middle but i can see him moving up to super within the next year anyway.
Another theory maybee he saw smith v groves and thought theres easier action at +8. And now hes off the magic beef should be easy enough to pack it on.
Canelo wanna probly see himself against 6' inchers as he is going to be in a ring with Charlo and Jacobs in years to come. BTW Canelo is 5ft7 not 8. 5ft7.5 at most I give him.
