The odds for Inoue's win are 1/25, no need for poll :)

Saying Rigo was shot is dishonest. But moving up 2 weight classes while being tiny at 122, was too much. I just can't credit him unless Rigo stays at 130 and starts beating these 130 champs. Do you really think Rigo goes 12 against a Berchelt or Tank who will show absolutely no respect to him? And to be clear Loma is better than Berchelt and Tank by A LOT. He might be able to beat Machado lol, but I don't rate Machado at all.

I agree that Gamboa was declining by the time he fought Crawford but he had a hell of a performance which tells me that this was Gamboa at his best or nearly at his best. It's an easy fight to discredit, and the arguments are valid too, but I truly believe the Gamboa fight was at least a B+ level win, arguably A-.

Actually it wouldn't shock me if Rigo was able to compete, it wasn't that Loma didn't respect Rigo's power, he just couldn't land it, Gervonta and Berchelt aren't anywhere close to the defensive master that Loma is. But like you said, let's wait and see, if he can compete, the win is worth a lot more.

As far as the Gamboa math goes, Crawford wasn't nearly as polished then as he is now, he lost a few rounds to Ricky Burns too, it might've just been a case of nerves getting to him, once Bud turned it on in the 3rd and 4th, the fight became fairly one way traffic.

It’s the first round of the tournament. Who did you think he would face? Tete? Burnett?

Naoya looks awfully sexy! Rumor has tho that he struggles with southpaws. Expect a tougher than expected fight. Possible serious trouble! Or not. That is my expert opinion. Not a very sober one.

Hm, so they're going to air Shiro vs. Melindo and Inoue vs. Payano (but not the light welters) live from 8 until 10pm Japanese time (7-9am EST) on Fuji. Cool. I'll plan my day accordingly. Still have to unload my Sunday morning work shift...I'm supposed to start at 7:30am :sisi1

Inoue wins by stoppages and he sets Japanese records for longest Japanese streak of stoppages in world title bouts (tied at 6 with Yoko G) and for most stoppages in world title fights (tied at 10 with Uchiyama)
