Well yeah I didn't expected that from the ref... But he was done anyways, don't think he would've lasted for another minute or so.

 

Please don't tell me Miller fight is next. I want that **** last, so I don't have to watch it.

 

All I can think is the referee being up close and personal believed McDonnell had taken enough and was way behind on the cards and made a decision.

That said, it's a world title fight and McDonnell didn't get the chance to shake that off, he wasn't laid out with the shots, he stumbled over, seemed in control of himself, was conscious and alert enough to take corner instructions to take a longer count.

Roman was well in front after the knockdown anyway, I don't think McDonnnel had enough left to turn it around but we will never know now.

Impressed with Roman, that stoppage shouldn't take away from a very good performance.

 

Hey, Mayweather used to dominate and his elbows were as important a striking tool as his hands.

 

McDonnell showed some true heart and fighting spirit. Great guy.

Gotta feel bad for Gavin M. Dude was working his way back into the fight, gets hurt with an illegal strike, ultimately goes down and still has the presence of mind to try and take the full eight count and regroup only to have the official stop it.

Probably should have gotten some time to recover, instead of having the fight ended in the manner that it did.
