He got knocked down by a right was thrown around the ring like a *****. I was shocked and how pathetic he looked. I am not a UFC watcher but came in with no idea how Khabib fights but he completely dominated and embarrassed Connor. I'd never show my face in public if I was Connor after all the trash talking!
This fight went EXCATLY the way anybody who had watched either man without bias knew it would. IE: Either Mcgregor would spark him out, or be dominated on the ground and submitted. Which is why, despite all the shite, I still prefer boxing to MMA (Don't like the ground stuff).
Yet Conor will show his face again and make more money in his next fight than any other MMA fighter ever has, probably in their entire career. Yeah, this was rather expected after the 2nd (although Conor was surprisingly strong in the 3rd when both were very gassed). I thought it was over in the second but he survived and actually proved himself. Obviously Khabib is a beast on the ground but it is kinda boring to watch when about 8 of the first 10 minutes involved him doing nothing (due to underrated work by Conor) but laying on his opponent.
What an awful sport. Most of it is just rolling around the floor. Just as boring and homoerotic as Olympic wrestling.
I have seen Conor quit in 2 of his last 4 fights, once against Nate Diaz and now against Khabib. If he doesn't want to take the pounding anymore, he just offers up his neck, and then taps out as soon as they get hold. Khabib wasn't even locked on his neck.
other fighters have evolved to use hands etc. Connor went in there looking like he would knock him out like he did Aldo, then he got a reality check that training for an elite grappler doesn't come close to facing one on fight night....Now we just have to wait for DC to destroy Brock then al the casual/WWE fans can EAD and dissapear
Conor needs to switch camps and get some new trainers and training partners, Kavanagh has taken him as far as he can.
Agreed. He should train MMA at Tri-Star and train Wrestling extensively with a guy like Cael Sanderson or Jordan Burrows (and their team). He needs a camp where he is just another body, a small fish in a big pond.
To be fair to Conor, he was out a long time. Even when the fight was standing he looked poor and that's never happened before. He was clearly very rusty. Probably needs a fight or two before the rematch and to stay in training until said rematch. I give him a chance of getting the KO in a rematch.
Logic, my god I thought that died around here. There are a bunch of guys in the previous comments who go ape poop if their favorite fighter gets his ass handed to him by a smaller guy. They say he was old, shot, whatever. Conor comes off a 2 year layoff and fights the new beast of the division, no tune up, does 100% of the ****ing promo, still fights his ass off and has to fight more after a fight and they still talk bad about the man. WTF?! You can't get Golovkin in the ring with a Charlo, but it's excused. You can't get Floyd in the ring with anybody not old, but its excused. You can't get Pacquiao in with Crawford ,so he runs to Haymon, but its excused. MMA blows away boxing in so many categories because the fans are not vagina monologue watching men who rather love a hypejob than see a man put his ass on the line for the check his mouth wrote. McGregor could have taken 3 tune ups and he would have gotten booed at all 3 events. Unlike watching the so called beast of boxing beat up a 154 guy because he couldn't get the KO's anymore.
Dana is stretching that fight out until he can wear DC down. Brock Lesnar is the "ideal" UFC fighter that Dana wants. Lesnar never got punished for failing that drug test before the Mark Hunt fight. Dana and co. knew he was doped up and still let him fight.
Khabib was sharper all round even his striking was good , the punch that knocked down Conor was excellent . Conor clearly was rusty ... I don't know if he will ever be the fighter he was before now that he is a multi-millionaire the hunger is not there like it was . He had chances to throw punches and he just stood there giving Khabib opportunities . Conor's best chance was early and he didn't go for it - a swarming offense style is what i would have advised . Still he lasted into the fourth round which showed grit . Khabib is as tough as they get so congrats to him for a good win .
