It was a fun fight to watch. Rocky just slowly broke him down then went on a rampage. Rocky adjusted and Archie didn’t. That’s why he didn’t win.

Another article on same page says The Rock next will defend against either Bob Baker, Nino Valdez, Hurricane Jackson or Floyd Patterson.

I love Moore but he was a self-promoter and full of ****. He couldn't put the Rock away because the man was up at 2, with an official count of 4, more embarrassed than hurt.

So the usual jack-asses don't bother to chime in, here is the clip:

The punch doesn't appear to be that terrific ,but Marciano said he blacked out for a couple of seconds,on arising he starts for the ropes expecting a standing count ,which was waved for title contests.
Moore didn't win because he was a great lhy, but not a great heavy, and he was/ nearly 40 years old.
ps Getting up quickly is often a sign you have been buzzed not the opposite.

If Moore had being a genuine ,hard hitting heavy ,then Rock would have being KO'd.The way that Archie was able to connect wouldn't have bode well if he's had the power of a Foreman or Dempsey.

Al Weill just wanted to bait the public into thinking that Marciano would keep fighting

Not to focus on minor details, but he said he blacked out for just a second, just 1. Also Marciano still quotes Walcott as the hardest puncher he ever fought, despite Walcott's inability to hurt him.

I really think Archie just got a really good counterpunch that had Marciano off balance and faltered a bit

Think of it as Marciano's Henry Cooper moment

If Henry Cooper had been a genuine, hard hitting heavy, then Ali would have been KO'd. Imagine if Ali fought Foreman or Shavers...

On footage it didn't even seem to hurt him lol

Let us not forget that Moore landed PLENTY of other sharp, on the button right crosses to Marciano's chin, with almost no effect

I really do think it was a balance issue

No way was that Marciano’s Henry Cooper moment. Ali was almost KO’d, Marciano wasn’t seriously hurt.

But cooper was a genuine heavy ,at least for the time .Moore was a great light heavy that moved on up.It diminishes the power most of the time. Look at Foster !.
All I was pointing out was that ,had Archie being a natural hard hitting heavy then it would have done a lot more damage when Marciano was kd .Can u imagine Rock being caught the exact same way by George !

Henry Cooper was 185lbs, Archie Moore was 188lbs, and much more muscular than Cooper for what it's worth. Ali used to be a light heavyweight, does that make him any less of a heavyweight?

George Foreman has the best chance of knocking Marciano out of any heavyweight ever imo

Foreman and Lewis I'd say . But Lenny has to come out aggressive as he did against Golota and Grant .But Foreman s on a even higher level ,his power was unnatural .

I think that the scale weight is only part of the story. Because Archie could weigh 188 does not mean that was his natural weight. There is a difference between being a heavyweight and being an overblown lightheavy.
