...It looks like he might be packing some fine china in that chin. Keeps hitting the canvas more frequently than one of Lebron James' basketballs!!

    That's the 2nd time Beterbiev's been down.

I think he might have a weak chin.

Johnson hits very hard. But yeah his legs were wobbly when he got up. Something in your mind tells you that just assume these Beasts from the East all have concrete jaws. But looking at Kovalev and this guy, it's just not true.

He's been down twice in his career, never down as an amateur as far as I know but the first time he's been down and hurt, the first knockdown was a balance situation.

If being knocked down twice in your career equates to a glass jaw then there are thousands of boxers out there packing glass.

First knock down was a push and Beterbiev triped. Last night though was legit and the punch didn't seem to land that hard.

Good point - most fighters have shaky chins, to one degree or another. The truly sturdy mandible, in my experience, seems to be the exception rather than the rule.

Beterbiev seems to be in that majority of fighters who have issues with punch resistance. We will see how serious that problem is as he progresses with his career.

I've always had a feeling Beterbiev at top level.will end up being a kill or be killed fighter. He has concrete hands and I don't think is jaw is glass but it is vulnerable, not so much in terms of not holdings shot but his defence is lax and he walks forward without thinking of what's coming back, not greatly balanced and doesn't move his head much.

I've no doubt he'll get KO'd at somepoint, possibly in an upset like last night but he's also gonna KO some good boxers, always a fun watch due to that.

Yeah the fact he is so inactive and seemingly struggles for sparring partners will definitely cause a hindrance.

The OP is a glass jawed joke who writes this kind of crap any time a fighter gets dropped. Him and the rest of his halfwitted cohort the so called chin checkers who have thankfully largely deserted this forum are incapable of writing anything of any note.

    Where’s the logic here?

He’s hit the canvas twice in his career, he clearly doesn’t have a granite chin but it definitely isn’t glass.

As other guy has pointed out, the rule of the thumb is that if you are hit hard enough you go to the ground. Those who dont, are truelly a rare excepion. It's not that provodnikov has a "normal" chin and everybody else have chinachins.

Honestly speaking I didnt watch yesterday's fight, but going one time to the ground doesnt mean ****. It only means something if it happens consistently, and as far as I know it dont remember beterbiev being on the groud 24x7. But as I've said, I didnt watch the fight so.......

That is the definition of a shaky chin. Most fighters have them, but glass jaw deniers and the fanboys of particular fighters refuse to admit this. A truly solid mandible is indeed the exception, and not the rule.

Beterbiev seems to be among those who have a shaky mandible. As I said, it remains to be seen just HOW fragile it is.

I think it's more a case of light heavyweight just producing more lean and better conditioned athletes right now that's giving rise to some beastly power punchers and consequently you could argue the most exciting division in boxing. The likes of Beterbiev, Bivol, Yarde, Buatsi, Alvarez and Gvozdyk are absolute specimens and it shows in the way they're sleeping their opponents. Exciting times ahead.......

I told you guys before the fight that Johnson is a talent and that he hits really hard with both hands and has the skills to punish Artur for his defensive lapses when he attacks. That's because I know what I'm talking about.

And Artur was caught with plenty of other big shots both before and after he was dropped and he took them all well.

The Page KD was a result of Page shoving him off balance before the punch landed so that his feet were out of position when it did.

I think he has a good chin, but not granite like Valuev or McCall.
