Not just because it's a great fight, but to stop all the promoter BS on both sides and let the best heavyweights in the world fight each other. Miller vs Breazeale or Joyce in December too. The 2 winners get guaranteed next shots at Joshua and Wilder vs Fury winner.
Totally agree, it also finally resolve where Ortiz really stands in all of this. Wilder fanatics think he’s and unstoppable monster and would stop Joshua and Fury in 3 and is by far the 2nd best HW, while Joshua fanboys think he’s old fossil on diuretics who was never that good in the first place and would get destroyed by Whyte. They’re both wrong but one’s gotta be more right than the other.
Id tip Whyte by late stoppage, but I still have enough love and respect for Ortiz to know he's extremely gifted and a dangerous mofo even at his age. He's is in with a very good chance to stop Whyte in his tracks as well. It would be a mouth watering fight.
I'd love to see this happen. It would be for the clear "best of the rest", the best of the fighters other than Fury, Wilder, or AJ. And if Fury, lost to Wilder, a good argument the winner is better than Fury. The winner would honestly have at least as good a resume as Povetkin at that point, and would be more relevant. I'd favor Ortiz but Whyte would be a live underdog and I wouldn't be surprised if he won by either decision or stoppage.
Ortiz by easy decision.. not 2 many guys could outbox Ortiz.. if u don't go the power to ko him or the speed your in trouble. and whyte got neither of those.
Ortiz brings absolutely NOTHING for Whyte, ZERO. Whyte even has a better resume than Ortiz, this is a pointless fight for Whyte when you consider the position he is in. Wilder as openly said he will make Whyte wait TWO YEARS for a title shot so even if Whyte fought and beat Ortiz it does absolutely nothing for him. Ortiz has no fanbase, no numbers, so what's the point? Whyte should fight Chisora in a PPV domestic fight and earn very good money and assuming he wins then he moves on to AJ in April. People need to let this Ortiz fascination go, he is an old man with a heart condition who was knocked out by Wilder and going back struggled with Malik Scott, was dragged rounds by Dave Allen..
So say Whyte beats Ortiz, won't everyone just go.... "Oh but ortiz was passed it anyway, too old, not impressive.. he was shot..." Just never gonna win with some people, and Whyte shouldn't be wasting his time making fan fights that aren't sensible for career progression. Beatz Ortiz then what? How will it get him any close to Wilder realistically. And if he loses.. then he loses a really good win streak that has made him very marketable.
I agree with you, i want to see that fight but it's a lose-lose fight for Whyte because if he beats Ortiz he still won't get credit because remember most boxing fans are beta males, especially on this forum. Ortiz will age 10 years everytime he gets beaten and if Whyte would beat him then fans would say Ortiz was 59 years old instead of 49. Damn i hate those mother****ers lol.
Lowlife subhuman creatures and when i say most boxing fans i don't mean myself or you or anyone who genuinely enjoys the sport but most boxing fans nowadays don't give credit where it's due and search for excuses to diminish the accomplishments of fighters who risk their lives and get punched in the face for a living.
Yeah. I agree it doesn't make really make sense for Whyte for the reasons you note. I just really want to see it. Outside of maybe Sasha v Ortiz or Whyte, it's the most consequential fight outside of the Dury Wilder AJ HW triangle.
