Is it wise? Or will Ryan get monstered? He has to be having second thoughts surely....he wouldn't be human if he wasn't. Very breve decision to participate by Ryan. Commendable.

He's on the right side of the draw, if he can get to the final even if he loses he is going to be guaranteed a massive amount of money, so its a no-brainer.

We all expect it to be Inoue in the final and if he loses to him so what, not like it wouldnt be unexpected.

Unified 2 titles already, WBSS final and a stack of cash to go with that, with only one defeat on his record to a P4P fighter, that's if the above pans out. Think he'd be very happy with that!

Why is he seeded the no.1 fighter in the tournament if he has no chance of winning?

When is the last time Donaire fought at the weight? 8 years ago? He should get past him handy enough. Then he'll most likely have Tete to contend with. To be honest I think he beats Tete but it's no guarantee.

And then it's Inoue... Burnett will be very experienced by then, a great tactician in the corner, and we know he has great skills... even still, good luck to him.

On that topic, if he does win, does that make him Ireland's greatest ever? He would have one hell of a CV

Tete prob is overrated but still very dangerous. How Ryan gets on v Donaire will tell a lot.

I think he has a very good chance, and booth will have an excellent gameplan in place for every opponent.

The only problem I have with Burnett is he gets hit and marked up too easy so he needs to be careful but otherwise yeah go for it!

He's a world champion and former unified champion. It's not brave of him to compete in the WBSS, it's what you'd expect as a bare minimum from a world champion.

Yes but it's. A gamble in the business sense. It's all very well saying a loss to inoue in the final would do him no harm.... But A defeat in the first round to a guy who goes no further would seriously damage his earning potential in future fights. There's no guarantee he will getpast donaire or tete. Either could chin him and then where would he be..... It's a risk.

Any1 else think donaire will give him plenty to think about. Burnett does mark up quite easy

Donaire making that weight shouldn't be allowed. Burnett will stop him early

Although I do like Ryan a lot, I don't see him getting past tete.
It's a close pick but tete is fav imo

I wouldn't even enter that tournament with Inoue in it. Would be amazed if anyone beats him. Guys like like terminator. Very very few flaws to his game. Hits like a mule. Doesn't give you time to breath. Quick. Great punch variety. Everyone goes on about lomachenko as the stand out fighter atm. I reckon inoue,s up there with him. Guys unreal. Still say that's not down to natural attributes tho. Guys look like they can't hang with him while he's just getting warmed up.

the deal here is that you are a winner if you get to the final..... Even if inoue kos you, your career and earning power will still get a huge boost. It's worth the risk. Earnings at lower weights are poor. It's worth the risk.. ..
