What would have to happen for you to give Joshua 100% respect?

Maybe I'm oversimplifying, but there have been four heavyweights who were or could become greats of boxing over the last few years... Fury embarrassed one of them - Klitschko. AJ beat an already beaten and older Klitschko, but it was nothing like Fury's domination. Fury's therefore ahead of AJ. To my mind Wilder put's himself ahead of AJ simply by getting in the ring with Fury. I assume that will happen, but obviously if Wilder pulled out crying then I'd put AJ ahead of Wilder.

I used to be a big AJ fan, I still like him a lot and maybe I'll be a massive fan of his again. But sorry, the guy's a long way from proving he'll get in the ring with anyone let alone beat them.

Wouldn't surprise me if we see a Wilder Fury re-match before AJ get's into the ring with either of them.

AJ got up from a knockdown and stopped a more motivated version of Klitschko in a bigger fight. Yet you give Fury more respect because he put his hands behind his back?

That's quite a childish way of reasoning.

^^ basically this. In fact, this probably still won't be enough. He would need to time travel back to just before he was born and get his momma to move to the U.S so he could legitimately by a U.S fighter.

Is it bad form for me to dredge up an old thread?

Last sentence was pretty spot on... think my assessment of Fury compared to Joshua was pretty spot on too.

How ridiculous can threads be!? He guy is a boxer in a sport MOST claim to be fans of. If that's not enough to respect a fighter, go find another hobby to pretend to be a fan of....

Did you see the bit where it says "100% respect"?

I give all boxers a lot of respect. "100% respect" is reserved for those with great records and / or massive balls. My original post was because I felt that it was hard to determine who the best of the three were, but that the moment Wilder vs Fury I was made Joshua was down to third. He's since lost to Ruiz and we've since learnt that Fury is miles better than Wilder. I'm not saying outright he's a ducker (but I wouldn't blame him based on the first Ruiz fight), but the moment WIlder Fury was made he had a lot to prove... and he's still got it all to prove.

I’ll admit I did not like Joshua at all before the Ruiz loss. It was not so much him, but his fans made him very hard to support. I remember his fans saying he was the best heavyweight in the division after he beat Gary Cornish. It just felt like a huge disrespect to the heavyweights at the top that achieved so much more already.

Once he lost to Ruiz, and the crazy fans shut up, and actually people’s opinion did a 180 and they downplayed all his achievements, i supported him a lot more.

I read people say his resume was poor after the Ruiz fight, and he had fought old, or cherry picked opponents. Joshua has clearly fought the toughest opponents he could get and had a resume heads and tails above everyone else in the division. The injustice of how people turned on him after the loss was poor, and made me support him a lot more.

100& respect goes to those with the balls to step in the ring. Giving it to those w/ 'Great records' is just bandwagoning IMO.

Then the debate's about what 100% respect means.

I could say "I give all boxers 100% respect... but what would it take to give him more respect than any other heavyweight currently fighting in the HW division".

People that dont respect him as of now will likely never respect him and in all honesty hes better off without their 'respect', imo.

I’ve thought the same from the beginning, and still think he’s the best hw in the world. I think he beats all of them. The separation isn’t that great, but it’s there nonetheless.
