Prime John Ruiz (if there is such a thing) against the lineal champions from Sullivan onward. Modern rules, 12 rounds.

How many would he be able to beat?

I feel he`d have a good chance vs Baer and Braddock. George Foreman after he beat Moorer. Tommy Burns, Jeffires because James J. was a come forwards and never fought anyone Ruiz`s size. Leon Spinks and Ali after beating Spinks.

Those were the first that came to mind. I would add Ingo and Willard. Johnson is also a possibility.

Miguel Cotto (you didn't specify heavyweights :p)

It depends how he'd adapt to the shorter fights, but I think his performance against Munro suggests he'd adapt fine.

Considering Ruiz lost to 2 former middleweights, I'm not sure how much you can count the size advantage, and he did fight people around the same height.

Does he get his favourable judging and hugging-approving referee?

He could do fairly well for himself in those circumstances.

He gets the same latitude from the refs that late 70s Ali did.

He beats some early lineal world champions for sure

Of the last 40 years he almost certainly beats Leon Spinks, Shannon Briggs and Hasim Rahman (actually Ruiz beat him in 2003, when both were close to prime).

the record books say he beat Foreman...…...who beat the man who beat the man. thats what linear means.

personally, i dont give any value to the title "linear" because it rewards fighters that avoid certain contenders. like bowe when he simply refused to fight lewis etc.
but if you give out this criteria as a Point in dicussion, you have to abide by it.

Would it be a huge leap of faith to say that he could beat Hasim Rahman?
