If Robinson fought Marciano instead of LaMotta in 1951 and was on top form like he was against LaMotta that night how do you see the fight developing rather than just predicting the winner?

Im only responding to this posting to say its ridiculous, no less then if you were proposing Griffith, Hagler, Lamotta or any other middle against one of the heavyweight greats and one whom both Dempsey and Louis said hit harder then them. Ridiculous.

He was knocked down multiple times by LaMotta...

You want him to fight LaMotta on steroids?

LaMotta couldn`t punch anywhere near as hard as Marciano.

Robinson knew he had no chance against Rocky. If you think like that you aren't going to do well. I'm guessing he panics and starts almost literally running away. He maybe flicks out a few jabs before Rocky lands and send him down. Robinson gets up, but is dazed and gets mashed.

    Something like that anyway.

    Blimey, calm down!

If you read my original message again you'll see I'm not asking who would win.

I'm asking how the fight would develop.

Thank you for properly reading my original post which was asking how the fight would develop.

There's no doubt Marciano would win. I think Robinson would outbox Marciano for as long as it took Marciano to nail him.

So the fight ends with Marciano winning on a knockout or stoppage with Robinson ahead on points.

No. I want to know how people think the fight would develop.

And let's not forget that more ridiculous things have been talked about as potential fights.

Bobo Olson expressed an interest in fighting Marciano.

IIRC it was suggest at the time and SRR said about it "Are you trying to get me killed?"

This. As much as a like SRR, he gets badly destroyed. SRR couldn't put a dent in Joey Maxim, who would get flattened by Marciano. Robinson was a great welterweight and middleweight, but clearly had no business at light heavyweight and especially heavyweight.

Marciano got knocked down by a 40 year old.
    He cut easy.
He was slow of hands and toes.
    Robinson.

Archie Moore stopped that "interest" in 3 rounds.
