name another promoter that made better cards recently was my correct original question? you answered basing on hearns cards that he made.
Whyte and Parker a poor event with mismatches? It's one the best PPV in years with very entertaining fights that had 3 under dogs winning.
Man, Aussies sure do tax alcohol. We are having the same issue here in Estonia. The alcohol tax keeps rising every year. This year the government supposedly will loose 100mil in alcohol taxes because no one came to buy from us. And Estonian's are going to other countries to purchase alcohol. It will be interesting to see if they raise the tax again this coming February. They have been doing so for half a decade now. I don´t get how so many of my friends moved to Australia. It seems ridiculously expensive.
Parker had just been beat in one of the most boring and cowardly performances in HW history. Whyte's biggest win is a robbery against Chisora. Terrible resume and extremely limited fighter. Old AF Chisora was one fight removed from a shocking performance where he got beat by a nobody. Old AF Takam was coming of a loss. Dave Allen was coming off a loss and taking a massive step down in class. Even Katie Taylor fought a nobody with a turd of a record. All the other fights were terrible mismatches too. Literally one of the worst cards in recent memory, let alone an F-ing PPV! You got some serious balls trying to defend that steaming turd.
You don't get it. I already said ANY. As in, I could pick ANY of the biggest NON-PPV shows put on since June by Arum, Haymon or Warren. They'd all **** on Hearns last two PPV cards. You're mad for even trying to make this point.
You are in the the very small minority that didn't think it was a great entertaining night of boxing. You only have to read the event thread on this forum that was full of praise for it by some of Match Rooms most critical posters on this forum.
I use to live in Tartu for 3 years. Good old days up Ruutli St where we would have 6 shots for 6 Euros to get the evening going. When I was in Ukraine I would buy a bottle of Vodka and a pack of cigarettes for $3 Australian, thinking about moving back somewhere in between . Black market tobacco is becoming hugely popular here now. Its expensive as hell, but like Norway, Australia is probably the only country in the world where a salary of less than $35 an hour is considered insulting. Great country to work and save money, but your better off spending your savings abroad unless you fancy million dollars mortgages...
Can I get a count on the number of "Match Rooms most critical posters" who loved that card and said it was PPV worthy?
It depends how you read these things. On paper it was pretty poor for a PPV. Yeah, it entertained. The main event was quite good and the Chisora fight was decent in the dramatic ending. Beyond that, it wasn't that great at all. Allen and Benn are fighting in and around area level. You should be getting higher level fights for PPV. There weren't any male world title fights on the line either. I don't see the merit in judging the worst of a PPV card retrospectively; you pay money for it before it has happened, so the judgement comes prior to the event. You don't get refunded if it sucks. You can look back on it and say 'damn that card was really good to watch' but you should be able to say that about ANY card. PPV should be getting fights together which couldn't go on the normal Sky broadcast. There wasn't a single truly world class fighter on that bill. Allen-Webb could have been on any card. Benn and that random dude from Luxembourg should be on NextGEN. There is no reason these fights should be filling up cards that require additional payment just to supplement Dillian ****ing Whyte. TL;DR: PPV value cannot be judged retrospectively.
The good old times. The place i work at used to sell 1 euro Rum n Coke, Vodka soda/juice, Gin n Tonic. But the taxes got to us and had to raise the prices. ****, some years ago they did Mojito's for 1 Euro a pop Right now it's: "10 Jack n Cokes please." "30 Bucks mate!" But this is just us. Everywhere else the prices are sky high(for the locals). Think they even raised the cigarette prices again.
Right so if you look at card and feel it's PPV value but the fights on the night suck you will still feel like you got your moneys worth? Sorry but I don't believe you if you do.
Obviously not, but the point is you're paying upfront so therefore you pay for what's advertised. No promoter can 100 percent ensure a fight is going to be an excellent one, no matter how well matched it is. Briedis-Huck is a good example of that. If the card is top tier fighters in tough fights but the fights end up sucking, then it's obviously disappointing but you're paying for the top tier talent and the potential it brings. Or, be even smarter and just don't pay for any.
Remember the Cotto-Margarito II card? That thing was stacked with warriors! Cotto-Margarito II Rios-Murray Wolak-Rodriguez II And Jones-Lujan. All of the fights turned rather one sided, while on paper were FOTY. Still a good night, but far from what seemed the possibility.
