Spinks going away. Footwork fight and Toney does not half the lower half mobility to deal with this guy. And Michael is not falling for the Toney traps----look what Futch did with Montell Griffin against the guy. Now think of his prize pupil in there.
Toney not doing with Spinks. Michael by wide decision over James, with a late knockdown by Spinks widening the score.
Well, Toney beat Griffin twice at light heavy. Spinks is a different proposition. I would say Spinks by UD. An in shape Toney makes it competitive and stuns Spinks on occasions.
Fights I saw had Toney losing to Griffin. The non-puncher 5'5" guy. Maybe they met on some unrecorded fights or something but just where are those Toney victories over the guy. And you think Griffin beats Mike Spinks? I don't think he does any better than he did against Michaelczewski.
There seems to be some sort of misunderstanding. I said Spinks is a different proposition than Griffin and picked Spinks by UD over Toney. Yeah, Toney beat Griffin twice in the eyes of most and the HBO crew. The 2nd Griffin fight was voted worst decision of the year. According to punch stats, Toney threw and landed more punches in both fights. He also landed the harder shots. I recommend you to actually to watch both fights.
This is Spinks UD all over it. James might land his right a few times and rock Spinks, but Spinks would also land his right and he put Toney in a shell and not as aggressive after that.
I have. I gambled on both fights and won. Basically, I thought Futch could have his guy ready and would not fall for the Toney tricks. And Montell did not. Griffin's underrated defense was not going to see him get hit a ton himself. And he really wasn't hit clean much at all. When he was, no problem absorbing. I really do not pay much attention to punch stats and Compubox are just horrible anyway. More of a thing to let Lampley and crew utilize to praise the house fighter.
Jesus Christ you're overrating Toney. Spinks wins cause the BUSIER fighter? No, you idiot... Spinks was a BETTER fighter than Toney... by A LOT. We're talking about a top 5 all time lightheavyweight against Toney, who lost to twice to Griffin at 175. This fight isn't remotely close. And I'm a HUGE Toney fan.
First of all, the reality is Toney should have won against Griffin. In my opinion, Toney is more skilled than Spinks. However, Spinks busy workrate, height and reach, unorthodox style and movement would earn him a UD.
Toney doesn’t have the feet to deal with Spinks. Spinks’ left hand versatility takes him to a comfortable decision where Toney is never in much trouble, gets his licks in, but simply doesn’t win many rounds.
