Eh, its just me being the Devil's advocate again. But I meant that as comparing the Fury that Wilder's taking on to the shot to hell Wlad, Sasha and Parker that AJ took on. Regardless, those three wins trump Wilder's win over Fury. But still, he deserves a fair amount of credit for it, since AJ gets credit for beating up two shot old men. Wilder will still need at last one more solid win to move past AJ in the HW rankings.
It's funny how the Wlad AJ beat was old, shot inactive etc according to some yet the Fury that Wilder is fighting isn't. That makes no sense at all.
End of day neither boxrec or Ring Magazine will move Wilder or Fury above AJ after the fight and AJ will still be reconised as the number 1 HW in their eyes as well as the majority of this forum.
Want to be the number one? I know a cunning trick, Just scan the list of fighters for, A juicy cherry pick, Don't worry about taking on, A current elite prime, Just look for one who hasn't fought, Top level in some time,
I don't understand what is happening in this place. I've spent 5 years reading Wilder is useless. He has underwhelmed in recent fights except for Stiverne 2. Out of nowhere he's become a killer in the ring and people are concerned for the welfare of his opponents. Fury is a long way from his best but near 40 Ortiz, the Polish football hooligan and Duhaupus all had decent periods of success with Wilder. Surely Fury is still more than an equal of those three. Of course Wilder could catch anyone in history with a windmill in round 1. The percentages say this goes deep and on a fair scorecard he may need to swing for the fences from Round 7 or 8.
If he is he hasn't shown it since his comeback. The Seferi fight was a circus show and against Pianeta I thought Fury looked awful. He looked to have no timing, no power in his shots whatsoever. He went 12 rounds which was something, but he looked a pale shadow of Fury circa 2015. Maybe he's been holding back on purpose, maybe its all some masterful rope a dope, but based on what I've seen I think Wilder will steamroller him.
both need to fight each other to find out who is #1, until the same person holds all belts you cannot claim one is better than the other, or the number 1. problem is the more wilder ducks the further away we will actually find this out. quack
Personally, the depth of ajs top wins would still give him the slight edge over Wilder imo. But it's completely irrational to value Ajs best win over Wlad and dismiss what would be Wilder best win over Fury. And yet, that is what is happening routinely. The fact remains: Wlad 41. Wlad had no win in 2 years. Wlad had not fought in over 1.5 years. Fury 30. Fury was the first to beat Wlad in ten years. Fury has now had two warm up fights this year. Fury is at his approximate peak fighting weight. Are there reasons to question a Wilder win over Fury? Of course, I don't dispute that. But it is simply irrational and agenda driven to say that there are not even more reasons to question AJs win over Wlad. If Wilder wins, it will be 1A AJ, 1B Wilder. They will be approximately equally distinguished. If Fury wins, it will be 1A Fury, 1B AJ.
