David Haye and Tyson Fury both fought puddings upon their comebacks Haye fought Mark De Mori and tbf blasted him out in one round Fury fought Surfer Safari and Frank Warren told his team to pull him out after 4 rounds Second fights Haye fought Arnold Jarjar who took a dive in round 2 Fury fought Francisco Piano who took him the full distance. Their third fights Haye fought bellew and fury is set to fight Wilder Thoughts?
I can see why you would make the comparison, but I think you’re overlooking a few other variables which include the extensive list of major injuries & operations (including back surgery where he actually lost a bit of height) that should have retired him. He was also 36 years of age and was a fighter who relied on his explosive athleticism, which is something that suffers most with age. Tyson Fury hasn't to my knowledge suffered any real injury, doesn’t rely on athleticism and is only 30 years of age. The bigger the threat, the bigger the danger of getting knocked out, the bigger the performance you get from Tyson Fury. He will win on December 1st. This isn’t based on what Tyson Fury is saying or the fact that I enjoy his work, but on knowing that a fighter with elite level boxing skills will beat a puncher 9 times out of 10 imo. Throw in the fact he’s 3-4 stone heavier, I can see Wilder getting knocked out when he comes windmilling in.
Can’t compare them at all. Haye was badly injured and has always struggled with injury. He relied on explosive strength as a “sniper” KO artist so his injuries totally destroyed his style. Fury hasn’t had any bad injuries and doesn’t rely purely on athleticism (even though his athleticism is world class). He is fresher, younger and his body is not injury prone.
Yeah I think if Fury sits down and throws to hurt he can hurt you or he can mount up damage that will force the other fighter to rethink. Don't like the pitty pat shite and movement he does showing off though, he needs to be serious, I guess that's down to who he's fighting though. I don't want to see Tyson walk forward in this fight and turn aggressive, stay focused and box with loads of angles and switching or he'll walk on to something. Stink the place out if need be to get the win
I hope you're right, it would be a fantastic comeback. He'll need to have come on a hell of a long way from what we saw in Belfast though.
Yet he moves in the ring in a manner that 20-something year old HWs can only dream of emulating. Makes sense...
Brilliant post. If Ortiz never ran out of steam he would have knocked him out. I agree about the windmilling. He will windmill away and Fury with land with a huge street right hand down the pipe. Unless Fury has lost alot of punch power people will see he punches hard.
It honestly baffles me how some people think he’s a powder puff puncher...if his shots weren’t heavy they’d just walk through him. His jab must be like being hit by a sandbag. I agree with the Ortiz thing as well, he proper gassed cos he’s an old man but that fight gets stopped in the U.K. in round 7.
