Talented fighter, but just can't stay healthy.

I know athletes are almost never at 100%, but Thurman is injury prone.

 

He is Shawn Porter's mandatory. Showtime was ordered by the WBC on Monday to defend against One-Time next.

He is expected to fight (vs. a bum, obviously) on the Wilder-Fury undercard.

 

Got married, paid, and turned soft.

 

Decent way to get a big name on the card without paying him too large and without people complaining too much about the utter bum he's fighting.

Spence has already beaten him mentally before they even step into the ring. So Thurman has nothing to fight for really.

 

And claim it is a 'stacked' card. Finkel and Warren taking a leaf out of Eddies book.

He is sort of letting his prime go a little, and by the time he comes back he will never be as sharp as he was. But if he has the money to relax and that is what he wants, who can blame him. But he will not be thought of as a great of his division if he keeps it up. Maybe that is not important to him.

 

I could be wrong but I think Thurman is finished and I believe he knows it too. He may beat a bum or two and in the process of doing so, look good enough to convince some less observant fans that he's still got it but as soon as he steps in the ring again with a very good/elite opponent, my bold prediction is that he's going to suffer his first professional defeat and that's assuming he can remain injury free for long enough for such a fight to materialise. It's partially not his fault but his peak has been drastically shortened at this point, if not completely wasted and it's a shame too, there were some good fights which we we never got to see.
