Canelo's definitely a more skilled puncher. Whether he hits harder than GGG might be debatable, but in the rematch Canelo showcased a range of attacks. When Canelo throws power punches, he gets better leverage on his shots than GGG does. Canelo's punches are more eye catching and his offense is more varied than GGG. Canelo has demonstrated he's skilled at pinpointing target areas and exploiting openings in opponent vulnerabilities.

Canelo has an ATG chin. Even Foreman, Tyson and Lewis didn't ko everyone they fought. GGG power is real though his power may have slipped with his explosiveness slipping on the wrong side of his 30's

Canelo didn't even hurt or knock down GGG who is 35-36 either while Canelo is in his prime at 27-28 so the overall point is moot

This thread isn't about Canelo's punching power. This thred is about Golovkin's punching power.

That depends! Do you consider Martin Murray to have a 'granite chin'? Or Nobuhiro Ishida? Or David Lemieux?

He almost put Canelo down in the 10th of the rematch. Canelo who has not been down in 50 fights.

Not at all. Power is nothing if you can't land a clean hit. Canelo's defense has been impressive, especially in the second match.

I don't think GGG is slow now. Slower yes, but slow, I don't think so. I have to say that GGG needs better tactic (and effort) to penetrate Canelo's defense.

Put him against lower rated boxer and the KO artist will be back.

    No no no no
In 2017 Canelo was considered as one of the best pure boxers in the game, and Golovkin was considered to be just a limited brawler.

In September, Golovkin proceeds to outbox Canelo winning the first fight 8-4

Then fast forward a year, a Golovkin pushing the age of 40 outboxes Canelo even more clearly, winning 8-4 or 9-3 again, this time not being the pressure beast that he always was, instead putting in a boxing masterclass, being on the back foot for long periods, outboxing almost 10 years younger Canelo again

i tihnk what you mean is that 3Gs power is proven to be very good at world level, so it is therefore a kind of "lower" elite power, but it dosnt go higher than that (eg its not HoF/ATG power). Its not strong enough to crack real elites chins, but can handle anything below (as proven factually by his record).

Golovkin is obviously a very good puncher but he's never been an elite one punch ko artist as advertised

I mean at one point people were saying he was dropping heavyweights in sparring. It got out of hand with the guy.

Canelo has a top chin and good defense. GGG hurt him worse than ANY of his past opponents.

No. 1) You don't hurt or KO everyone you fight, outside of some very rare and extreme cases. 2) Canelo proved to have granite whiskers. 3) He was hurt enough in the rematch to suggest GGG hits hard.
