Floyd Mayweather Sr in interviews has stated that he felt without his fractured hand that he suffered in his bout prior to his fight against Ray Leonard, he would have been able to beat Leonard. I'm not sure how much I believe this. The hand had started to heal before the fight against Leonard and he was using it in the fight. I'm addition to this there have been a ridiculous amount of boxers who have suffered fresh hand fractures in fights, yet still been able to control and win fights. Is there any truth to Mayweather's claim or would he still have been stopped in the 10th without the hand fracture?
Post fight a defeated boxer can come up with a million reasons why they would/could have defeated their conqueror, but fact of matter is that you had your chance and you lost, if that was in your opinion due to misfortune, then that is tough, Mr Mayweather it your decision to enter a fight that you allege you were not 100 per cent fit for.
Just another tired old excuse of which there are thousands to be found among beaten boxers. The rare one has validity but not too many.
I have no clue if the hand impacted the fight, but I am fairly confident picking SRL to beat him 10 x’s out of 10 irrespective...and I am not SRL’s biggest advocate
There did seem to be something wrong with Floyd's right hand in the fight, since he barely threw it, but once a fighter signs for a fight he can't make excuses afterwards. This content is protected
Mayweather Sr. Fought almost the entirety of that fight in survival mode, rarely leading and focused on not getting KOed early. He accomplished that. But he was totally out gunned and outclassed. All the excuse making doesn't change that.
He was lucky he didn't get seriously hurt in that one, tho mind you he already has immense mental issues.
Yeah. It's not as if Mayweather, Sr went on to become an ATG welter himself. If he did, then maybe I could see some validity in his claim.
