Like Rigo and most Cuban boxers Ortiz is most likely somewhere between 5-10 years older than his official age. Ortiz turned pro at 31 (his official age), which is extremely old to be starting a pro career and most promotional outfits usually don't like touching a guy that starts that late as a pro, but imagine Ortiz trying to turn pro while telling people he's 35-40 (most likely his real age in 2010).

It's hard for me to believe that he is 38, because I'm 38 and I could pass for his son lol

Against Wilder he's 48. If he fights Joshua he's 38.

He is 39 years old. I don't understand why people here act as though there aren't people who look older than their age.

He started late and now he is looking his age in the ring, as 39 is fairly old even as far as modern heavies go. Some people do really just look really ancient... I don't think Ortiz adjusted his passport and papers though unlike certain footballers.

Ricky Hatton not only looks older, but also looks ready to die.

He isn't as old as he looks, I remember watching some old video tape of Ortiz sparring Jack Dempsey and thinking then he had that "old man look"..

    He has always had it.

Luis Ortiz is so old, that if you told him to act his age, he would die.

People just trying to wind up Wilder fans by saying he's older I joke about it but even I think he is 39 or close to it.

But for a boxer anything above 37 is old in my opinion. I noticed my hand speed wasn't the same by my mid 30's and by 38 I definitely started feeling my age, more aches and pains, worse mobility, worse recovery post exercise and I've always looked after myself, gone to the gym religiously plus done plenty of cardio, my resting heart rate is 47 bpm.

Ortiz has already begun to show signs of his age. The fights against Scott and Allen showed he was declining, then the fact he needs blood pressure meds. For a boxer even if he's only 39, he's an old, old man. He's honestly ready to be taken in my opinion especially now that he's lost and been stopped vs Wilder. Question is who has the balls to test the old man now?
