I was going to start the same thread this morning ....this is a great matchup, probably the best and most interesting fight aside from Wilder-fury. I'm all in onSpence. I think Bid is a tough tough guy with good movement but Spence is bigger and stronger. Styles make fights and this mix of styles makes for a fan friendly fight. Let's get it on!
The irony is, I don't think Crawford is a tough guy. I think he has a lot of power and is a bully with a bully mentality. By that I mean I think he gets bolder when he sees weakness. But if you have someone who intimidates him or creates doubt he is much more cautious. You saw this even against a lame Benevidez last night. The fact that Benevidez made Crawford think he wasn't afraid of him Bud backed off and fought very conservatively. Spence, even if he were to get KO'd would not back off. That's why I think Spence wins this fight by KO or points.
You don’t think Crawford is a “tough guy”? lol Crawford is about as cold-blooded as they come. He probably has too much pit bull in him for his own good.
Don't misunderstand what I am saying. There have been numerous stories of him getting into school brawls and apparently came out on the losing end several times. Got his butt kicked. I just think he typifies a bully. He is the opposite of an Evander Holyfield. I'm not saying Crawford is not talented, he is. I'm just saying he was pretty frigging cautious when the guy in front of him didn't appear intimidated.
Why brawl when you are the better boxer? Benavidez was hoping to **** off Crawford and make him fight a stupid fight but it did’t work. There is no punk in Crawford.
Nah, Crawford, if he had more confidence, could have KO'd Benevidez inside of 3. He was tentative due to Benevidez's posturing. Benevidez never had a chance against Crawford. He couldn't sit down on his punches due to the leg.
Benavidez is a counter puncher which caused a "more cautious" style. Spence is a move ahead boxer who will come to Crawford and let him be the counter puncher. Styles make fights and Saturday was two counter punchers. Not a great stylistic match but you saw the adaptability of Crawford. Spence fights one way and Crawford has several options including right and left handed. The idea that Crawford is a "bully" is only valid in that he has extreme confidence in his ability. He was not afraid of Benavidez but simply figured out how he could easily win the bout. Unlike many boxers he didn't run the last round but went toe to toe and knocked him down once and he was going down again before the "premature stoppage." If you compare the bodies of work between Spence and Crawford you will see a great match up that could go either way but, in my mind, favors Crawford because of that adaptability.
This is a bad fight for Crawford, I've still seen nothing from Crawford that says he'll beat Spence. Spence would walk him down and brutalize him. (I"m not a Crawford hater, I have him in the top 2 p4p). Stylistically, and size-wise, he will not be able to bang up against Spence. He won't be able to push and muscle Spence inside like he's done with pretty much every other opponent. Crawford is an excellent mover (better than Spence), but Spence is excellent and walking and closing distance. And Spence is pin point accurate with where he places shots. And I have a suspicion Crawford is very susceptible to right hooks. Finally, while Spence does have a certain flaw, Crawford won't be able to exploit it (I believe at this weight class only Thurman can).
I dont see how anyone can pick crawford to win vs spence after sat nights performance. He got hit alot by a guy with no resume. I could name 5 guys from spences resume that would kick benevidez ass.
