I started to write something before I read pistal47’s post, which was more colorful than mine but made the same points…and I started out rooting against Crawford… Raise any argument you want, logical or not, to convince yourself not to believe your lying eyes…but, it’s obvious watching him, Crawford is special. If you don’t see it, boxing is probably not your sport…
I was definitely on the Haymon train until I realized that he was treating boxing like the music business. The man has single handedly killed ESPN Friday Night Fights to put on lopesided showcase fights for 3 years where we seen Garcia rob Herrera, Spence fight bum after bum while being a champion, under promote Wilder as the American Heavyweight champion wayyy before Joshua came into the picture, let his feather weights duck each other and fight sparring partners (Leo Santa Cruz) on the biggest PPV in history, give a loser like Berto fight after fight, give a loser like Broner fight after fight, starve Miguel Vasquez, starve Vanes Martirosyan and starve Angulo. Where is Caleb Plant? Where is Sakio Bika? David Benevidez used to be on PBC, why he leave for Arum? Beterbiev is 33, where is his career going? Who is Dominic Breazeale fighting? Why does Gary Russell Jr only fight once a year since losing to Lomachenko? The hypocrisy is guys like @Dance84 jumping down Crawfords throat ut ignoring the fact that Al Haymon can make Loma drop that WBA belt at 135 and have PBC guys fighting for it all of 2019 until Mikey Garcia gets it and freeze him and that WBO belt out just like Crawford at 147 and he will be whining about it. Didn't we watch Pacquiao fight for only one belt since 2009? I'm tired of this foolish bul****.
Why not just answer why Loma gets a pass and Crawford does not? I believe it's a valid question, since both are considered the top 1-2 in the world.
Well these Haymon guys are soft. Al gives them huge paydays. So they sit on their ass for the rest of the year living a comfortable lifestyle. They avoid the best fighters and dont take any risk in the ring. Bottom line they're charmin ultrasoft. But can we blame them? To be a legitimately great fighter is a tough and grueling lifestyle. Let's look at the best example of a true great fighter in recent memory. Manny Pacquiao. He fought 2-3 elite fighters every year for like a half decade plus. And pretty much destroyed himself in the process. Do most fighters actually want to make the sacrifices needed to build a great legacy? Or they can sign their career away to Al and live a far more comfortable life. And even if you make up your mind to strive for greatness you will most likely fail in the ring. And that's if the powers that be even give you a chance.
You started so well, made some good arguments and if you feel you are above falling for Crawfords smoke and mirror act good for you, im falling for it but thats my problem. But then you call him Terrence "BUM" Crawford, a play on words from him title BUD, very clever of you. But what your doing is calling Crawford a bum. Unifified and 3 weight world champion Terrance Crawford and your calling him a bum. I cant take anything you are going to say to us seriously if you are thinking things like that.
To be fair Loma did fight one of the better ones in Gary Russell Jr. Has Crawford even fought one of the not so good ones? Is John Molina Jr. a PBC guy?
What a load of tosh!ok this is your opinion and I respect that but why is it that yourself and so many fans on here and on the comments sections on YouTube talk about being either fanboys or haters like it’s somehow normal. Seriously mate it sounds like you’ve been influenced by this growing movement.Personally I rate Crawford as a pound for pound elite boxer but that’s as far as it goes as I’m certainly not a fanboy and just as I liked both Floyd and Pac equally which apparently is a no,no on here. Is it not possible that some of just enjoy boxing and as such can form our opinions with using our eyes instead of having to justify everything by resumes or who they fought ect. Crawford was very lucky to have the chance to become undisputed as normally politics get in the way so you could say it fell into lap somewhat in a relatively weak division but that’s not his fault and as a pro he did what he needed to do. Also the very fact that in a new division at Welterweight against Horn and this guy he was the immediate favourite which is why he classed as pfp,you may have a point when he comes up against Spence but a loss to him wouldn’t suggest he’s a hype job, merely he lost to a top guy who could fight at Middleweight. Maybe you could explain what Crawford has to do now just to prove to you that he’s not all smoke and mirrors cause seriously it’s getting beyond a joke what some on here consider what hype jobs and bums are, good job Hagler,Leonard,Duran,Hearns and the great Ali never had any losses on their record isn’t it?theyed be classed as hype jobs or bums.
Beggars belief how anyone could say that, could understand someone saying they don’t enjoy watching his style esp after that boring performance against Postal but to suggest he’s not a quality boxer is unthinkable.
Yes this, when Crawford got all the belts at 140 you felt that was hardly tested and had so much more to offer which is why he’s classed as PFP. Even if he gets done by Spence it doesn’t detract from how good he is,so important that these other guys show some heart and pride like Kell Brook and fight Spence and Crawford as Brooks loss to Spence only earned him respect not hate.
Anybody that unifies a division deserves to be pound for pound top 5 unless said division is absolutely barren of any talent, like the 168 division.
Crawford was at 140 for 2+ years. Where was Regis or Mikey if it was such a "weak division." Funny Crawford moves to 140 and those two show up at 140. Maybe the division was 'weak" because nobody wanted any of Crawford
Richard Schaefer made that match and that was under Golden Boy before the break up. Al Haymon would have never let his guy fight an outsider for a strap. Loma had to go into enemy territory to get that 126 title back for Arum. They could have robbed him thats how I know Al didn't plan that fight. That was during Top Ranks lawsuit of Haymon and company. Crawford fought Molina Jr. at 140, how is he going to get Garcia, Porter, Thurman over Spence who can't get Garcia ,Porter, Thurman and he is part of the promotion?
