It wasn't set in stone. And didn't Pac even say that he didn't want Crawford?

Not sure Roach or Pacman wanted it but Arum was all over it.

*there was also talk of Lomachenko at the time.

Judah losing to Baldomir, ultimate screw up losing a tune up...

Surprised no one mentioned Roman Gonzalez vs Sor Rungvisai. I think there was some interest in an Estrada rematch and not many knew or even gave Sor Rungvisai a chance against Chocolatito in the first fight. The decision loss took away the hype but the KO loss pretty much killed any possibility of a rematch against Estrada.

Was mandatory. That's why Judah took that fight.
Not a tuneup, but it was supposed to be as easy. Lucky for Judah, he didn't miss out on a big payday.

Davey Moore getting destroyed by Duran en route to a shot against Hagler. Not that Moore would have proved a worthy challenger for Hagler, obviously, but that fight resulted from horrible matchmaking.

Not a tuneup by any means, but Gerald McClellan and Roy Jones were on a collision course prior to the Benn fight. Nigel was considered past it. ...

I remember talk of Forrest/ODLH, prior to Mayorga. Whoops.

Morales/Raheem is another example of dreadful matchmaking. And as mentioned, Judah/Baldomir is one of the biggest chokejobs of all-time. You just couldn't count on Judah.

Rungvisai wasn't a tuneup. Just a stay busy mandatory fight. There is a difference.

They happened, but were still "ruined" in the sense that the bouts lost a lot of intrigue that would otherwise have remained intact.

Degale v Truax I. Warren was lining up Saunders-Degale and had already starting talk of the Emirates Stadium.

Sure, but that wasn't the aspect I was claiming was ruined. Around here, most people thought Sturm deserved the victory.
