He was done and dusted in that 7th. Ortiz gassed & couldn't finish the job in 8th. Credit to Wilder for surviving.

Quite possibly mate. I just think that Fury is always going to look garbage in a fight with a fighter who doesn’t carry a threat and is just looking to survive. So i’m not judging him from them fights at all. He needs the genuine threat of being KO’d to bring out the best version of him.

Think they will both look awful, to be honest. Fury's feints, movement, and herky-jerky twitching are great for offsetting robotic "stiff" fighters like Wlad... but Wilder uncoordinated and unorthodox as he can appear isn't going to look great unless he can set his work up I'm not sure Wilder has the footwork to do that so can see lots of falling in and punches missing by a mile.
The clean effective boxing could be slim.

I know he's a big hitter but Joe Joyce wouldn't have been my first choice for a Wilderesque sparring partner. He's pretty ponderous by comparison.

I know he wouldn't have the power but maybe Okolie with his awkward stance and cruiserweight speed would be closer to Deontay's style? I'm sure his manager would be happy to help Tyson out?

I'm not being argumentative or a moby but can anybody explain to me why they genuinely believe Fury will beat Wilder in 2018?

What have you seen from Fury in his last two fights that gives you that confidence?

Do you believe Fury will not be hit for 36 minutes? Do you believe Fury has the chin to survive if/when he is hit?

You people need to go and watch Deontay Wilders fights against Malik Scott and Gerald Washington on YouTube. Pay attention to the booing and read the comments section. Wilder doesn't like tall boxers. Scott and Washington must have been trained by Tom Daley.

I think Fury is a limited boxer and there's plenty of evidence to back that up. I also think he's strong, hard hitting, quick, has a good engine and a chin sufficient to take a shot from Fury in order to give him one back with interest. Based on what I've seen of Fury since his comeback, lacking any timing or power whatsoever that should be enough.

Of course if this third camp of his is the one where he recovers his previous levels then we'll have a proper fight on our hands. At present, with no evidence to back that up, I think Wilder is going to knock him out. So do the guys who pick Wilder's opponents and you'd hardly call them risk takers.

I don’t believe Wilder will land clean on the button. He will land scuffing shots, the odd jab but Fury will ride it. He’s 3 stone heavier, 2 inches taller, switch hitter, great jab, great feet & his an excellent spoiler. Against dangerous fighters, he’s switched on, he doesn’t chase an opponent nor look to knock them out. Wilder’s fought one quality (but long over the hill) fighter, he’s been fed fodder and built v slowly much like Yarde is right now. He really genuinely struggles with southpaws.

I’m aware that this version of Fury might not yet be as physically sharp as the 2015 version (he’ll get there) but he’s still got way too much for a lad who only started boxing in his 20’s...

A 6”9, 18 stone world class boxer against a 6”7, 15 stone puncher. The boxer wins.

I hope you're right mate because much as I like the idea of Wilder v AJ, an all UK unification fight between Fury and AJ, both champions, both unbeaten, with Warren and Hearn in the background would be all sorts of epic.

I was thinking of sparring partners that Fury could use the other week and I must say Okolie was the first one I thought off. For size and speed Hughie Fury would be great too but i doubt that is an option currently. As for Wilder, Hughie Fury is only person i can think of who could help prepare him for Tyson, again that wont be an option. So it's very hard for either fighter to get suitable sparring

Very true. I thought of Okolie aka Mr Tickle, too. Both fighters are v unique, I guess it’s v difficult for both camps to find suitable sparring. If I was Fury though I would just get cruisers in.

I agree big lanky cruisers or heavyweights that are upto 16st with a bit of height. It will come down to their boxing IQs to adjust on the night and that suits Fury as he has best boxing IQ in the division.

Very fair arguments and some good points.

That's one thing I haven't factored in, if Fury boxes southpaw, with his size that could cause Wilder problems.

Fury is getting stopped here, he’ll showboat for the first few rounds but that’s about it. He hasn’t improved enough since coming out of retirement, looked poor against journeyman and this isn’t a blown up cruiser weight like Steve Cunningham he’s fighting

As much as the fury fans rave about him ok his best performance was against klitchko but god what a boring fight that was! My money is on the wilder win via tko not the fury win via dancing and showboating for12 rounds

Most Cruiswerweights enter the ring around 15st, Cunningham weighed 15.4ib v Fury, so hardly a blown up cruiserweight. Similar fight weight to Wilder. Fury has often looked lacklustre v sub quality opponents, but turns it on when needed. If as I expect Fury is 80% of the fighter he was v Klitshsko he beats Wilder.
