The only true way is to find a certified boxing gym, with an accredited trainer, not a fitness guru, a boxing trainer that can show you how and then practice, practice, practice.
I only say this because it involves using your entire body and words just can't explain it.

Funny I heard something similar today re a horrible piece of work in my home town who is a loan shark preying on the the poor and weak,he’s heavily built though a few who have been hit by him said there’s not much power there but his rings cut you up.

Can only presume he’s “arm punching”a boxing term used for those who don’t pivot or throw from a solid base or stance.
That snap you refer to reminds me of a fight where Karl Frampton got dropped twice off the thinnest, weakest looking kid you ever saw but he must of had that snap you refer to as nobody else since has dropped Frampton like that.(think the kid is dead now actually)

ill give it a go. think of your arm like whip that has 3 hinges and you want to connect the punch at the point that the 3 hinges are aligned and locked for a snap. your first hinge is your shoulder, it swings the arm into a line and creates the first measure of speed. your next and most important hinge is the elbow, it creates the most speed as it straightens out and snaps into place. your last hinge is the wrist, which pushes the knuckles the last couple of inches forward at point of impact. when all these things happen correctly, its like getting hit with the end of a very heavy and rigid whip.
duran was a master at snapping his punches. here is a shot of what the arm looks like at point of impact.

    I never struggled with that.
You can't throw lazy punches, you need to throw every punch with mean intentions and they have to be short punches, so looping hooks aren't really gonna have any snap, motor control plays a big part, the way I throw punches is I always cover my chin with the shoulder, regardless if it's a jab or a hook, first thing is to always cover your chin with the shoulders, I am amazed at how many people don't do it or aren't told to do it, so say you throw a straight right, I lean with my head towards the shoulder and raise the shoulder a tiny bit. ALSO how your arm returns to your guard is just as important as the punch itself, you wanna get it back at the same speed as the punch itself, THAT really helps getting a good snap on punches, just think about how quickly you get the arm back to guard, the whole movement has to be snappy, if half of it isn't then the other half will suffer for that
Obviously if you're going to the body, don't do that.
If you're going for a punch to the head, always cover your chin, tuck your chin in and just raise your shoulder a tiny tiny bit as you're throwing a punch, then obviously you need to have a good stance and hip range of movement, all the power and snap comes from your back leg and hips, once you master that you have snap in your punches, throw the punches in a straight line as well, make them seem robotic, it's all gotta be in the straight line so when you're throwing a hook, wrist, shoulder and elbow should be on the same level, same with straight punches (obviously)

I'm horrible at creating sensible descriptions forgive me :D

As an Am boxer for over a decade best explanation is experience. You'll learn the shoulder pop & everything through day in & out the gym. It's laying a brick everyday for years

Yes comes with time but i don’t understand the concept Some say pulling back fast but thats not the snap comes more from the shoulder i think the pop you mentioned alot of pro boxers do that

Ok good explaination using your arm as a whip heard it before realy good for cutting someones face open but the snap i think comes more from the shoulder i think when you look at very good pro boxers when they box you see the shoulders popping i think thats the snap Joshua and briggs and mayweather do it alot not every pro boxer does it but i think that creates alot of snap but don’t know for sure do you know what i mean?

I do all those things but not alot of snap can punch powerful in sparring id i hit people alot of force and they fly back buts more pushing force no snap so it doesn’t hurt only moves them on the heavybag the bang swings instead of Shakes i retract my punch always tight punches use my back leg and hips full range of motion after contact pull it straight back but still too much push punch

To be honest it’s not detailed enough hè says pull back fast and Do it quiker that doesn’t create the snap i think it’s more of how you use your shoulder i think im not sure
