I am pretty sure that the rule on this forum is that Ali and SRR never lose a hypothetical fight...only slightly less known is that Duran beats every LW who ever existed...

While I don’t agree, I do think Duran would win this contest!

    Ahaha, that's true

While there's no question that Duran is greater, I see Battling Nelson's style and durability being a huge problem for Duran over 45 rounds

    Stupidly brutal fight.

I'm not sure you can tell how someone could cope with those sorts of distances, without them having done them, I don't think that he let himself get out of shape between fights boads well, and I think the Dane was too durable for Duran to get him out early.

I think Duran schools him early, but Nelson turns it around later to win by KO.

Could very well be the case....just wouldn’t be my pick. I guess under the rule set you are choosing it would play into Nelson’s favor...I just Roberto being Roberto and taking it to him relentlessly until one of them succumb...my guess is Duran is the victor

I find it funny how sure people are about the results of imaginary fights, compared to how well they can predict real ones.

Normally I think Duran quitting against Leonard is pretty irrelevant, but when talking about something as absurdly brutal as a 45 rounder against Nelson, I'm not sure it is.

I am not sure that Duran meant to quit, just poorly expressed his frustration at Leonard’s lack of willingness to exchange like the first fight. I don’t see it as a lack of heart, but then again it has remained a point of discussion all these years

I don't know why people always think that the 45 round stip would make any difference in a lot of these hypothetical fights where one fighter is significantly better. Nelson wouldn't last 15 against Duran. Might as well schedule it for 100 rounds.

Why Duran no doubt. He stops him to boot

I can't see Duran stopping someone as ridiculously durable and tough as Nelson was. Nelson outlasts him but takes the beating of his life to win.
