Three terrifying punchers that roy somehow "skipped", but they fought each other. But he had time for part time mall security guards, UPS truck drivers, and other nobodies. You have an entire generation of boxing "fans" that get their knowledge from youtube highlight reels and boxrec. You can't even name half the opponents in roy jones highlights. Disgraceful children that see flashy knock outs and automatically think they're seeing greatness.

Not saying all 3 would, jackson and benn would at least be tough fights. G man knocks his ass out. Roy said he wouldn't fight him because he was a friend, gerald said "we're not friends"

Jones is a member of the "he would have beat him anyway" club

    Anyone missing on his resume?

"He would have beat him anyway"

So it goes with the online fanbase

Damn, if Roy Jones Jr has a weak resume, then Calzaghe has an even worse resume. That guy fought around 40 tomato cans, a couple of lowly ranked fighters, a reality TV star, then 2 shot fighters (both of whom knocked him down in the 1st round).

Bernard Hopkins went on to have some great wins and his fight was incredibly close, bore-fest or whatever, it was too close to not have rematch and Hopkins wanted it instantly yet Calzaghe just did'nt have the guts to do it.

This Calzaghe might be unbeaten, but he simply refused to fight any tough fights. Damn, he pulled out 3 times against Glen Johnson! 3 times!

I remember there was a thread on here a long time ago about all the fighters Calzaghe refused to fight, and it was a very long list at that.

This is why to me, Ricky Hatton & Carl Froch will always be much better. At least, both of them fought everyone, they have the guts and the confidence to fight and believe in themselves!

Imo Froch has a better legacy than Calzaghe

    Hatton does not.

Hatton also avoided everyone dangerous in his division for years, and took the Floyd and Pac fights for massive $$$

Calzaghe and Hatton have similar resumes but Joe's win over a still very good Hopkins is better than Hatton over Tszyu, and Hatton doesn't have a win as good as Kessler (an equivalent win would have been Timothy Bradley)

Jones had no Chin, no Heart, and no plan B in a fight. One of boxing’s biggest myths. The guy couldn’t even take a punch from Lou Del Valle. Total Glass Jaw. Jones had no Chin. None.

From all 3, Carl Froch has the better resume & legacy by far, and Calzaghe and Hatton are similar but at least Hatton fought 2 prime ATG; although he lost, at least he still manned up, grew nuts and gave it his best.

I just do not understand why Calzaghe stayed fight in that ice rink and fought nobodies consistently. His fight against a past-prime Hopkins was too close, and if the euro bum Mario Veit can get a rematch after being KO'd in 1 round by Calzaghe, then surely Hopkins warranted one too.

Calzaghe ended up having a paper thin legacy and where is he today? What fight of his do the public remember? He's unknown. Carl Froch is in the mainstream media, employed by SKY and doing a fantastic job because what he did in his career people adore. He took the risks, he fought top level contenders and champions again and again. This is why he is so popular and in the mainstream.

Roy's biggest problem is he did not retire earlier in his career. People now mock him but when you look at a Prime Roy he was right up there with them all. That being said I see him losing to Benn, Eubank,Jackson, McClellan and possibly get in your head Collins. But all those fights would of been awesome. Just as the 3 UK fighters fighting were. I mean who can forget Collins Psyching out Eubank then demolishing him twice and Benn :(

David Telasco...he really asked for it. So Roy beat him with a fractured wrists, Ya'll Musta Forgot!
When he beat Bernard Hopkins and took the IBF the right was hurt, beat him with the left, Ya'll Musta Forgot!!
Forza dont make Roy mad, cause he's amped already, took titles from vitals who was champs already.
Mike McCullum, Vinny Paz, Montell Griffin, and multi heavyweight champion John Ruiz.

Who can forget The Quiet Man John Ruiz. Didn't he beat a Klitchko and Roy beat him so technically, Roy could destroy prime Klitchko's. No? Forget what I wrote then.

so, jones never got in the ring with elite Benn, elite McC and elite Julian J.

and Benn never got in the ring with ATG Jones, ATG Hopkins and ATG Nunn.

seems to me that this argument is now instantly strawman. No disrespect to Benn though, who was the most willing in the British (+Irish) wbo triumvirate of the early 90s.

    Neither did toney, or Nunn.

You obviously weren't around at the time.
If you had done your homework you would have known that by the time Roy had his first big fight Benn was on the decline and Jackson was shot.
McClellan and Benn finished each other.

You can make an argument for Roy missing out on Dariusz and Hopkins between 98 and 02 but the guys you brought up were never more than a far fetched possibility and those fights were just viable for a very short window of time.
