I think I had it 8-4, similar to the judges 2 by 3 points and 1 by 5... a good performance but I don’t really see it as a beat down

De La Hoya vs Paquiao always stands out to me both for its one-sidedness and surprising outcome. Oscar had lost a razor thin split decision to Mayweather just a year before, and yet he was utterly, hopelessly outclassed by Paquiao despite being the naturally much bigger man, and quit on his stool at the urging of his corner.

"There's no point. He's just too fast. Do you agree?"
    "Yes."

Scott Harrison - Wayne McCullough was one of those fights where one guy was completely outgunned from the opening bell, and has no viable means of winning. McCullough was past his best by that point, not really a natural featherweight, and never a big puncher. Harrison was just too big and strong and it was a one-sided mauling. McCullough still had his chin, which ensured he lasted the distance.

Lennox Lewis - Zelkjro Mavrovic was similar in some ways. Lewis had a huge size and weight advantage, but Mavrovic took everything he threw and kept coming till the final bell.

Demarcus Corley started off competitive against Mayweather, but by midrounds, Floyd was not only outboxing him, outworking him, but pushing him back fighting flat footed. No running at all. & When he helped Corley get off the deck, that was the icing on the cake!

Miguel Cotto over Carlos Quintana, out of nowhere, Carlos look like he had been bludgeoned for 30 round...in under 5.

Ali over what's my name --what's my name sucka!!!

My favorite systematic beatdown is probably Bowe over Jorge Gonzalez. Dude talked so much trash.

Yes, apparently Vaden lost his virginity to Terry Norris' wife at the age of 24 :dancer2:

If I remember correctly, Paul and Terry were both from the same part of San Diego, and had a bit of a 'frenemy' dynamic, ala Danny Romero and Johnny Tapia. Vaden also trained for a period under Abel Sanchez, who of course was Terry's main coach.

From what I recall, Norris and Vaden were both pursuing the eventually "Mrs. Norris" at the same time, but she married Norris, who was far more established. Later, when they were training partners, Norris noticed some conspicuous chemistry between his wife, who was spending a lot of time at the gym, and Vaden, who found himself on the receiving end of some increasingly hostile sparring. Norris was, as he told it, unsuprised to learn after the fact that Vaden and his wife had been doing the bedroom rodeo during that time.

For what its worth, somehow I doubt that Terry Norris was punctiliously faithful himself.

Its a bad one. Its a shame about Harrison's mental health issues, because we missed out on great rivalries with JMM, In Jin Chi, Chris John, and maybe 130lbs showdowns with Barrera and Morales. The boxing press pleaded for Wayne to retire after the fight, and their alarm was increased with the revelation that a cyst was discovered on his brain in the aftermath of the fight. Wayne contests the veracity of the brain scans, and he fought well in later fights with Oscar Larios, but the bout with the bigger, much stronger Harrison was a very grim sight. I would compare it to Vic Darchinyan's TKO 12 over Burgos, if you've seen that. Fortunately it had a happier (relatively) ending.

Good post and reminded me that Winky also came out on the wrong side of this type of fight against Paul Williams later on.

Moore was good, but he was a novice compared to Duran, and his cornermen and the ref were criminal in letting it go so far.

I get your point mate, your right too, but when another man starts banging your mrs and you know them, they know you, even worse friends, then that's serious enough to take it further than upping the tempo in sparring. People can die for that stuff. Humiliation on another level. Cheers for clearing it up for us mate

He was a novice compared to Duran true, but lets not forget that Duran was supposed to be shot and he was being fed to Moore to fatten up his resume. Moore was the favourite and he'd beaten some good fighters with his high intensity style. Duran was supposed to be easy prey. LOL, miscalculation ...
