It was assigned as an eliminator to see who will face Canelo for the WBC belt. Golovkin ducked that, which might be the only thing he has ever ducked because he defense is booty juice wack, because he does not actually want a difficult fight ever again if its not big money. We've seen weak punchers like Monroe tee off on GGG and that has become a thing of the [past since Brook, Jacobs and Canelo introduced him to his biggest opponent...THE UPPERCUT! Golovkin don't want that Charlo big horn Texas edition uppercut.

    GGG is 36 years old!

He is slowing down and has to pick the correct fight at this stage of his career.

Regardless of the Canelo results (GGG won both of them), he has to take fights now which make the most money.

Murata in Japan could be huge, obviously the trilogy with Alvarez as well is massive.

Charlo? Dangerous fight with no title on the line. Say GGG wins, however at what cost?

SRL turned down a fight with Mike McCallum, stating the obvious,
"too dangerous and not enough money."

    Similar situation here.

Well, he was a mandatory for Golovkin. And now we have a new champion...
The WBC has ruled a Golovkin vs. Charlo fight, but there were not enough money in it for Golovkin. So now I expect the WBC to make another eliminator (Charlo vs. TBA) to determine a mandatory opponent for Alvarez.

Charlo was mandatory for the WBC belt, which they have given to Alvarez now, so Charlo should be his mandatory. Sulaiman obviously didn't like that and "ordered" a eliminator instead.
Charlo isn't Golovkin's mandatory for anything anymore. Golovkin doesn't have a single belt left because he lost them to 2 Vegas judges.

Question should be, "Why doesn't the WBC order Canelo vs Charlo, like they should according to their own rules?" and "Why do they believe they can order Golovkin to do anything, without a belt and with the way they treated him?"

Golovkin has many options, like Murata (2nd rate WBA) for big money, winner of Derevyanchenko vs Jacobs (IBF) and maybe even Andrade (WBO).

    Perfect post.

Charlo WAS mandatory, declared so by the WBC

Canelo managed to dodge Charlo via the WBC who arbitrarily decided he's not mando anymore.

Canelo is fighting some mediocre SMW that he's draining to death instead of Charlo who has a good chance to win.

Charlo has basically been robbed of his legitimate title shot against Canelo through the usual skullduggery and the WBC (We Bodyguard Canelo) organization that tried to use Golovkin as their thug for hire to pick off Charlo.

I'm not a Charlo fan but it's disgraceful to see how they tried to use him as a pawn to try to force GGG to fight Canelo on Oscar's terms. I wish the dude would sue the WBC and force them to stick to their own rules.

GGG will likely fight Murata which is frankly a much more lucrative fight and he owes NOTHING to the WBC.

You're funny, so the WBC "We Bodyguard Canelo" has such a history of protecting Canelo, like they did in 2016 when they demanded he agree to GGG's terms within 15 days of the Khan fight or else he would be stripped lol. They did a great job of protecting Canelo there, working with GGG behind the scenes to force Canelo to give GGG a better split.

Oh yeah the WBC gave Canelo such preferential treatment there trying to force a split on Canelo within 15 days of fighting Khan which resulted in Canelo vacating the title and being at odds with the WBC that he wouldn't even fight for the WBC title in the first fight. Yeah that organzation, Sulaiman learned his lesson, not to dictate to Canelo again, and Canelo said recently it was all just a misunderstanding. Yeah some misunderstanding.

But yes the WBC learned its lesson after that and now that Canelo beat GGG, Charlo, who was GGG's mandatory by the way, not Canelo's, now that there's a new champion of course they will not enforce that right away. It wasn't like Charlo had been the mandatory for very long, like GGG was when Cotto was champ and had to pay step aside fees and all that jazz.

Canelo knew he had to fight GGG after Khan for almost a year iirc.

    Get outta here.

That's true, he did know that and was prepared to fight GGG next, but he did not like being dictated to and given a 15 timetable by the WBC to make the fight. He was dealing with a court case involving his former promoter. I know it's fun for you think that he vacated because he was scared of fighting GGG, but clearly the 15-day timetable and being dictated to like that was what forced him to vacate. Such a timetable and forcing purse bids would have greatly benefitted GGG's split.

That's an opinion and I guess you are entitled to believe it if you want.
