It's just Sulaiman's way of protecting Canelo from the impending arse whooping. Sulaiman wants those big money sanctioning fees that come with Canelo holding the WBC title. That is why Sulaiman repeatedly sucks Canelo's balls, even though Canelo was fairly recently trashing the WBC repeatedly.

But he would have likely ducked Charlo anyway even if he had beat Canelo. Murata was all they were talking about and he's still the only opponent they talk about. They made it every clear about their disinterest in a Charlo fight.
He may even have dropped the belt because the WBC were going to order him to fight Charlo. We've already seen him relinquish belts to avoid tough mandatory challengers in the past.
