If Moorer had faced Dokes who ko d Weaver in one ? Does MM suffer the same fate as Weaver here ? Or can Moorer ice Dynamite Dokes ? 15 round s ,3 kd rule in effect.
Both guys were known for being a bit chiney. I think I lean towards MM over Dokes. I think MM is a little underrated because of losing to a 45 year George Foreman but the reality is not to many fighters would have gotten up from that right hand and MM showed plenty of heart in climbing off the deck against Holyfield and Cooper. Would be a fun match but I have MM coming out on top.
Another pick em fight IMO, and could see either guy winning. Forced to choose I would go with Dokes but not with any level of confidence
First career Dokes was never known as chinny tbh. He took heaps of big punches off Weaver in their draw without any sizable drama. He took heaps of big punches while still affected by coke against Coetzee as well before dropping. Even when he was old man river in the legs he took it pretty well against Holyfield. I'd disregard Bowe given Dokes was a decade past his best form. Certainly be a fun match. Dokes sat down on his punches late first career and i wouldn't be overly surprised to see him stop Moorer. Moorer was dangerous too and it would be quite competitive i think unless Dokes jumped him early.
Yeah you are probably correct about Dokes chin in hindsight. He has a lot of KO losses but he probably has a better beard than MM. One thing that Dokes has over MM is that hand speed. Really is a pickem fight.
No. Moorer was an efficient sharpshooter. Dokes wasted alot of energy. Moorer busts him up with the jab and wins by TKO.
I think he would blitz Moorer in one or two. Anyone who could reach Moorer with heavy hands could knock him out
I like Dokes quite a bit in this. Those fast hands and that quick left hook. A real competitor in there. I think he puts MM into that cautious gear of his 30 seconds into the bout. So Moorer concentrating 75% on defense is not his ticket to victory. It'd get more rounds in, but that's about it. Winning the rounds or hurting Dokes to the degree that Dokes backs off, I just don't see. The southpaw stays in there for awhile though and some of his 3 second bursts would keep things entertaining, but not enough to get the victory.
Dokes chin was considered quite good in his prime. In 85 he took nearly two years off and with that and the drugs he was just never the same. He looked great from the waist up but was very old in the legs. He took a very good punch up to and you could say including the Coetzee bout.
