It seems that ever since he got beat by Lomachenko, everyone has written him off and I rarely see anyone rate the guy. Imo GRJ is a special talent with great skills, great gas tank, great footwork, quickest hands in boxing history and a great chin. He produces some great combinations and honestly when I watch him, there are times where I honestly can't see some of his punches. Of course it doesn't help his case that he has been fairly inactive since that loss but his win against Diaz was a very good victory with Russel not being anywhere close to his best. Nowadays when a fighter loses, he becomes garbage all of the sudden. How far do you think GRJ can go in boxing?
Pretty uninteresting division imo. Can't see him getting a better shot to build a career than the one he had against Loma.
The champions of this division seems to be uninterested to fight each other to unify the belts. Yeah, in term of raw talent, Russell Jr. Is probably the best in the division right now. He has outstanding hand speed. But his resume is not that great, to be honest. Only four matches in three years.
Loma threatens my existence so GRJ is utter ****ing trash. All jokes aside, GRJ is a good talent but he's been so inactive that I don't know where I would even rank him at 126. He could definitely be #1 but needs to prove it.
I think he's got the talent and skills to climb up p4p rankings but his inactivity, resume and just general career management precludes him from doing so. I don't think most people have trashed him, it's just that, the guy's been around for nearly a decade, and he's been on people's radars early on in his career since his hype train started very quickly. And in that decade, he's had, a let's be honest, super underwhelming career. He's got what, 2 wins of any relevance and a loss? People are just tired of GRJ, it's only so long you can really give a **** about a fighter based on nothing but a promise.
Kinda reminds me of Andre Direll really, obviously super talented but just wasting his prime years fighting nobodies and rarely anyone of any note, people were hyped about him as well (myself included) then just stopped caring.
Extremely physically gifted, but until he gets in the ring with more credible opponents, your guess is as good as mine. He got a schooling from Loma, then took Johnny out in impressive fashion. Beyond that he is an inigma with a tendency to be inactive, and disappear from the limelight for long periods of time.
He doesn't ever fight and even when he does, he mostly he fights guys that have no business being in the ring with him. Call me when he fights Tank Davis.
That’s just it,seems content fighting just once a year and has said as much with him earning enough to do that apparently
He is an excellent fighter but I don't think that boxing is what he wants to do. I think that it just a means to an end. I don't the way he is holding that title hostage. I want to see him defend it on a regular basis or get out of the game altogether.
